One Of BATMAN BEGINS' Biggest Mysteries Has Finally Been Solved

We're months away from meeting Ben Affleck's Batman as a new era for the Caped Crusader begins. Warner Bros. will obviously need to do a lot to top The Dark Knight Trilogy, and Jonathan Nolan has now addressed a Batman Begins mystery which has bugged some fans for years...

A very long time ago, Warner Bros. released a teaser trailer for Batman Begins which made it clear that Christopher Nolan's reboot was going to be unlike anything that had preceeded it. As you can see by rewatching it below, it included a monologue from Christian Bale's Bruce Wayne which didn't make it into the movie and has never been found in any of the movie's deleted or extended scenes. So, why wasn't it in Batman Begins? Addressing fan questions on Reddit (via IGN) today, Jonathan Nolan finally provided an answer. "I wrote this in a couple hours in my brother’s trailer while he was shooting the scene in which Bruce is arrested for stealing Wayne corp supplies on his 'journey,'" he confirmed. "Remains some of my favorite writing from these films. Was written specifically for the trailer. Wouldn’t have worked in the film." So, there you have it; you can finally sleep at night! Do you guys think Ben Affleck's Batman will top Christian Bale's Dark Knight?

Affleck will knock it out of the park.

I agree with Nolan, as much as I liked the monologue it wouldn't have fit.

I'm so glad that the great mystery of this monologue from a ten year old trailer has been solved. I think I would have burst if I never found out that it wasn't intended to be in the movie, but rather was written specifically for the trailer. I mean, that's NEVER happened before!

Bane: "So you came back to die with your city?"

Batman: "No, I came back to buy some hockey pants. Where are the hockey pants? WHERE ARE THEY?!"

But the mystery remains...

Why don't we see the Narrows in TDK & TDKR?

My answer to this article's question? Yes, I think it will finally terminate the very thought of Bale being the definitive Batman, and it will terminate the existing statement that TDK trilogy is the best CBM trilogy of all time. I actually think Affleck's perfomance will blow TDK trilogy out of proportion, and I'm trying to say this nicely.

Amen.

As awesome as Affleck's Batsuit is, prefer Bale's Begins Batsuit.

Never been a short ears guy.

I think Affleck will be a terrific Batman, maybe even the definitive Batman for me. But that doesn't mean I'll suddenly stop loving The Dark Knight Trilogy, Nolan did an amazing job on those movies and The Dark Knight to this day is still my all time favorite comic book movie.

Ben Affleck sucks at acting even worse than how much he sucks while being played by a psychotic nanny who manipulated him for fame provided by his dick. So yes, he will suck as Batman.

But....we've still got people out there who think Andrew Garfield was a good Peter Parker and that Iron Man 3 was not sewer disposal. There are some who still say Age Of Ultron was a great and successful movie, even though Whedon has disowned it, Disney said it failed, it made 600 million less than projected while Furious 7 made 700 million more than projected.

Those people will love Affleck as Batman no matter how bad he is. The same people will proclaim Jared Leto the best Joker ever 30 seconds into his 1st scene.

Affleck will suck as Batman but some will swear he was great.

@ManDeth Also, you're kinda polluting the article with your negative energy, I can't have that kind of bad karma in my life. I'm trying to keep it feng shui. Please leave.

Begins is a perfect comic book movie. Don't give a shit if the "fight scenes suck"

I don't think we will ever see a better Batman film then Begins. Literally has everything in it in terms of villains:

Supernatural: Scarecrow
Ninjas/Assassins: Ra's and the League
Crime bosses: Falcone

Top it off with the Joker card at the end.

Think tomorrow I need to watch it. GOAT film.
