Though it's highly unlikely director Christopher Nolan would take anyone's opinion into consideration regarding who to include in his next Batman film, composer Hans Zimmer decided to share his thoughts on the matter.
The Academy award winning Zimmer, who composed the score for both of Nolan's previous Bat-films, has told
MTV News is choice villain for the final installment of the trilogy.
“For me, I’d have an enormous amount of fun with The Riddler,” Zimmer said.
“There is such a wealth of fun to be had with a character like that. The exciting thing about any of these movies Chris makes is that they are really based in a solid reality, in a solid psychology way. It wasn’t easy for me at first to write about a character who was wearing a rubber mask.”
“He’s a character that gives you ideas,” Zimmer continued.
“Maybe I should talk to Chris about that.”
Though many comic movie fans may not realize it, a film's score is not only crucial to the progression of the story, but it establishes a foundation for the audience to emotionally connect with the movie's characters. Zimmer doesn't seem to go into a project with a musical theme in mind; he'd rather wait to hear exact story details before he sets down to compose.
“Once I knew [the ‘Dark Knight’ villain] was The Joker, I started to get a sense of what it could be, more than what it shouldn’t be. Chris and I have this interesting way of getting together, throwing ideas around causally, and then slowly one little Lego piece comes together and another falls off and another comes together.”
Zimmer went on to say that Nolan usually gives him notice of his choice of villain early on in the decision-making process.
