BATMAN & ROBIN Star Alicia Silverstone Would Like The Chance To Play Batgirl Again

Alicia Silverstone suited up as Batgirl in 1997's Batman & Robin, and the actress has now expressed an interest in getting the chance to do it all over again after her experiences on the divisive movie...

Batman & Robin is widely hailed as one of the worst superhero movies of all-time, but it wasn't all bad, and an argument could be made that it was a lot of fun spending time with Alicia Silverstone's Batgirl. However, comic book fans weren't overly happy, especially as Barbara Gordon was re-imagined as Barbara Wilson, Alfred Pennyworth's niece!

Joe Schumacher's DC Comics adaptation earned Silverstone a Razzie for "Worst Supporting Actor," but she countered that with the Kid's Choice Award for "Favourite Movie Actress."

Now, Silverstone has admitted that she would love the chance to suit up as this female Caped Crusader again. "I like it when I get to do the fighting scenes with Uma Thurman," she told Collider in a recent interview. "That’s fun. But I’d like to do it all over again as this woman! [Laughs] I think it would be much better now."

Batman & Robin was supposed to receive a sequel, but Warner Bros. changed their plans, and we ultimately ended up with Batman Begins instead. As for Batgirl, Joss Whedon was attached to write and direct a movie starring the character, but he was later replaced by Harley Quinn: Birds of Prey scribe Christina Hodson. Since then, we've not really had any major updates.

Do you guys think Silverstone could play another superhero on the silver screen?

You know.. making a direct sequel to the most disliked Batman movie 23 years later is so crazy I'd actually be interested just for the shits n giggles

@MrDandy - Come now.. you can't say Batman & Robin was better than BVS with a straight face can you?

@BigMikeReviews - Batman and Robin knew what it was trying to be. It was going for camp and ended up being obnoxious and annoying. Batman v Superman was going for grim dark and ended up being 3 hours of boring pretentious crap. Yeah. If someone held a gun to my head and said I had to watch one of them, I’d probably pick Batman and Robin just by virtue of it being shorter lol!

Well, they're both pretty bad, and they both have cult followings. The only real difference is the B&R cult embraces the awfulness while the BvS cult go blue in the face insisting it's not awful at all.

@BigMikeReviews - Probably not, but they were both better than TDKR.

This will sound wrong, but maybe...if they did a batman beyond movie with Keaton and Burton. Her as Police Chief. But, not that expensive of a role.

Also, you gotta remember that a lot of the fault of the actors in this movie goes on Joel Schumacher.

I mean, we've all seen how talented actors like Clooney, Thurman, and even Swartzenager can be. They were doing the job they were told

Im sure she would. It would 100% be the same thing. Because she is not a better actress now than she was then. She was a product of her time and did not have the necessary skills to stay relevant.
