THE DARK KNIGHT Trilogy Star Christian Bale Has No Interest In Returning To The Superhero Genre

If you were hoping to see Christian Bale return to the CBM genre following his critically acclaimed turn as Batman in Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight films, the actor has some bad news for you...

Though he's obviously appeared in many other movies and worked with various other terrific directors before and since, Christian Bale will probably always be best known for his portrayal of Bruce Wayne/Batman in Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy, which still remain among the greatest superhero films of all time in many peoples' eyes.

Because Bale did such a great job in the cape 'n cowl, many fans would like to see the Academy Award-winning actor return to the comic book/superhero genre in some capacity, but it really doesn't sound like it's something that's on the cards.

While being interviewed by Collider for his latest film, The Promise, Bale was asked about the possibility of him suiting up again, and immediately shot it down. In fact, he says he has absolutely no interest in the genre at all.

"No, I’m not interested in doing that. I’ve never seen — I’m trying to think if that’s correct, I think I’m actually correct, I can’t remember a single superhero film that I’ve ever watched. Apart from the ones I made and like, the Christopher Reeve Superman films... I have no understanding of it and I’m completely blind to it."

It seems a little hard to believe that he didn't at least watch a little snippet of Ben Affleck's performance in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, but there you go.

What do you guys make of Bale's comments? Were you hoping to see him return to comic book-based cinema someday? Sound off below.
