Ben Affleck Surprises A Young Fan Suffering From Terminal Cancer With A Call From BATMAN

Earlier this week, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League star Ben Affleck helped make the wish of a young fan come true when he gave him a call and revealed a very special surprise.

On Thursday, Ben Affleck proved that he doesn't always need to wear a cape and a cowl to be a superhero.

Earlier this week, nurses at Hospice Atlanta shared the story of an 11-year-old refugee named Mukuta, who is suffering from terminal cancer and is receiving treatment at their facility, on Twitter with the hopes that they could find someone to visit him dressed as his favorite superhero: The Batman. However, after attracting the attention of Shazam! star Zachary Levi, they received a very unexpected, but very welcome, call from the Dark Knight himself.

Affleck, who is currently filming Netflix's Triple Frontier in Hawaii, made a very special FaceTime call to Mukuta on Thursday afternoon and while the young fan didn't immediately recognize him because of his massive beard, his perplexion quickly turned to jubilation when he realized he was on the phone with Bruce Wayne.

Affleck's kind heart didn't stop there either as after learning more about Mukuta's story and that
his mother was unable to travel to the hospital in Atlanta from Zimbabwe, he graciously pledged to help reunite the mother and son by paying for her flight and travel expenses.

Stuff like this means the absolute world to some fans. So much respect for any person who brings joy to a fan with a hero or idol in their heart.

@MosquitoFarmer - I'm a sudden Ben Afleck fan. And if Chris Evans and Chris Pratt showed up at his bedside too, can you IMAGINE the rift that would be sealed up in the Marvel vs. DC fan wars???????

Despite the division among lots of us comic-book fans, I think it's safe to say that we all can collectively unite to spread a little joy in the lives of those who are less fortunate. Hears to you, Mukuta!

"he graciously pledged to help reunite the mother and son by paying for her flight and travel expenses."

That's the most Bruce Wayne thing ever.

Ben has had a lot of bad media coverage as of late, and while I don't think the dude is perfect, I'm glad he's getting some positive coverage for once. But more than that, I'm glad the dude is trying to pay it forward to kids in an unfortunate situations. Superheroes were the pillar of my childhood, I can only imagine how much it meant to this kid what Ben did. More of this....ultimately more of this everywhere, please!

Sometimes we forget, man. This really is what this is all about. First week ticket sales, rotten tomato scores, in the end none of that holds a candle to this stuff right here.

Hats off to Affleck for bringing some joy to the boy.

No kid should have to deal with this. Hopefully, some day they won't have to. Until then, let's do what we can.

Good on Ben Affleck on breaking away from his own life to focus on this family during their time of greatest need. Hopefully the family reunites rapidly.
