The newest addition to the cast is Kevin McKidd and Victor Fries/Mr Freeze

He has given great performances in tv shows such as Rome. I think that he would play the devoted husband and widower with lots of depth making us feel sorry for the turn of events that happen to him. He has also voiced Batman in Justice League: Flashpoint Paradox so he is familiar with the characters.

Here's the story:
Victor Fries has stolen money from a bank. His condition that means that he needs to be kept cold. The opening scene is the robbery being stopped by Gordon. The Penguin is angry because Harvey Dent has just put some more of his men in prison so plans to take him out. Bruce researches Fries’ background about his wife and how he has her frozen until her can cure her disease.

During the court hearing a man throws acid in Harvey Dent’s before a bomb goes off blowing a hole in the wall. At this moment Freeze escapes to return to his lab. Bruce Wayne hears of the incident and pursues Fries as Batman. He follows Freeze in his lab seeing the lights are turned out he switches to heat vision just in time to see the man. Fries stabs Batman with an ice pick, but it doesn’t penetrate the suit. Fries stabs holes in pipes in the wall which cold gas rushes out of. Batman is feeling the effects of the cold.

Meanwhile, Gordon looking into how the bomb got into the court room and finding that no one will give him any answers. In the fight Fries falls into a freezing tank which causes his change. Gordon is in his office trying to find a lead when Batman climbs through a window. Gordon pulls his gun but Batman gives him photos of where the bomb was made and the materials. He had tacked down the men who made it. Gordon says “I’ll send some officers out to arrest them.” Batman replies “No need.” and Gordon sees the men tied up on the street outside, when he looks back, Batman is gone.

In Gotham Hospital some doctors walk towards a Fries’ room guarded by Police and shoot them. They are the Penguin’s men and use wires to lower Fries out of the window to a van. When Fries wakes up the Penguin tells him Batman has killed his wife (it was his men) and offers him revenge saying “Kill the Batman, Mr Freeze.”
They arrive at Dent’s house and kill his wife and hold his daughter hostage (Freeze is uneasy about this).

The Police hear reports of disturbance and head to Dent’s house but Batman gets there first. He fights Freeze and is sprayed by the cold gas, falling to the floor as Freeze kicks him around. As the Police arrive with Harvey the thugs kill his daughter then stab Freeze in the back, they are going to finish of Batman but his lets off a tear gas grenade and escapes as the Police arrive. Some of the thugs are arrested and some get away, Freeze is put in an ambulance. Dent watches as his wife and child are taken away in body bags.
