AP News reports that actor Pat Hingle, who played Commisioner Gordon from 1989 to 1997 died at his home in Carolina Beach shortly after 10 p.m. Saturday after battling blood cancer. He was 84 years old.
His career spans six decades, and he was nominated for a Tony Award in 1958. His latest role was in Talladega Nights released in 2006.
Although many do not appreciate the 1990's Batman films, you still need to recongnize that without these films, who knows where movies of comic adaptations would be. I personally think he did a good Commissioner Gordon, even though I am a huge Gary Oldman fan, Hingle did it in feature film blockbusters first. I thank him for his contribution to Comic Films, and I send many blessings to his family and friends.
