Given previous news about Christopher Nolan and the state of the next Batman movie, this seemed like a very sudden turnaround from Warner Brothers. His laugh and “But you didn’t hear it from me” informed fans that this was by no means an official release from Warner Brothers. Still, emotions ranged from perplexed to elated at the revelation.

Now however, it is becoming apparent that Oldman may have spoken far too soon. In an interview with Ain’t It Cool New’s Quint, Oldman amended his previous statement saying that he was sure that they wanted to make another movie, but that it might be two or three years before anything new for us. Whether Warner Brothers has reprimanded Oldman for letting a big secret slip, or the actor jumped the gun, most Batman fans will be breathing a sigh of relief. Better to wait and have a good film than risk rushing things and losing Nolan along the way.
