With Christopher Nolan possibly ditching the directors chair for the next installment of Batman. Who has the chops to pull it off? Here are just a few picks & movies they have directed:

Bryan Singer-X-Men, He made a lot of $$$$$$$

Alfonso Cuaron-Children of Men-This was different from other Human Ending films.

David Fincher-Fight Club--You had to pay close attetion to this one like Vanilla Sky. HEAD TWISTER

Paul Greengrass-The Bourne Series--20TH Century style Spy Thiller, Knocks James Bond out the water.

Brian De Palma- Scarface, The Untouchables---Classic-Unfortunately Kevin Costner by far best Movie with exception to Mr. Brooks...

Louis Leterrier-The Incredible Hulk--CGI Crappola, but Ok!

Michael Mann-Heat---Cool Ass Robert DeNiro

i'd say Mann or Greengrass. No to Singer, just because his X-Men movies were masterpieces when compared to Ratner's doesn't mean they were anything special.

none of the other guys fit well enough to do a good Batman, unless they decide to Schumacher the 3rd

Out of these id go with Alfonso Cuaron, but if Nolan doesn't come back id love to see Darren Aronofsky take over.

NO WAY IN HELL to Singer!! Especially after Superman Returns - unless we all want a touchy feely Batman movie where he ponders prejudice (basically Singers own opinions about homophobia replaced with mutant haters)! Knowing Singer, a Batman film directed by him would copy the camp 60's TV series just as he copied the old Superman movies in Returns.

David Fincher would be a great choice though - if you havent seen Zodiac directed by him...you should!

Y'all know i wouldn't go for any of those. I'd take Paul W Anderson!!! Just imagine Batman in the same feel as Event Horizon, now that'd be stellar!!! And i also have a week spot for Stephen Norrington for making one of my favorite movies, the first Blade ;)
Spock
Spock - 7/22/2009, 2:53 PM
@ Ror never seen any of Darren's work!

@ Josh, haven't seen Zodiac, but Ben. Buttons was good. CGI in that was great.

@l0rdleg0las Ratner for Batman, uh he does have a history with Mariah Carey but this.uhmmm that may to be/not to be. I feel iffy on Ratner

Spock - 7/22/2009, 2:55 PM
@ Shaman Event Horizon was pretty interesting, I wanted more of the space going time, but they cut it short. I thought it had a little twist to it When Joker set them up to go after the girl whats her name?!!!!!

I wouldn't want to see Cuaron I mean have you seen Harry Potter 3? what was he thinking? I mean if we want Batman 3 to have talking shrunken heads, a hunchback and Dawn French then go ahead. But I agree with Shaman.

i would actually go with fincher. his darker tone movies like 7 and fight club i think fit nolons world the best.

David Fincher would be great to see direct it. I mean, after the incredible masterpiece that is Fight Club, he has proven himself 10 times over. Sorry, but Fight Club is just my favorite movie of all time. Cuaron would also be good, I could see him bringing some edgy feel to the movie.

I like the Aronofsky suggestion Rorschach. Nice pick.

why not tim burton?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

@Shaman@ I wouldn't want Paul W. Anderson to do this he makes good movies but not ones based off of a franchise he did the RE movies and AVP.... I don't think he can handle the Batman.

what about Zack Snyder(300), or David Slade(30 Days of night)? I do agree on Stephen Norrington, the frist Blade was amazing.

@legder20@ Tim Burton had his two Bat flicks let someone else have a shot if Nolan doesn't return

Maybe Len Wiseman if the next Underworld falls through (Which I hope it doesn't) there is also Patrick Tatopoulos who did Rise of the Lycans.

Well from the list of directors here I would pick David Fincher. I would like to see Zach Snyder take a shot at Batman. I wonder what Rob Zombies' take on a film like this would be

@Shaman@ I knew you would agree with me on the Wiseman... got to love Underworld.
Wadey09
Wadey09 - 7/22/2009, 9:43 PM
i would say brian de palma or paul greengrass.
they both have the experience of directing thrillers which Batman fits into perfectly.
the past 2 Batmans had major dealings with the mob which makes de palma perfect.
but greengrass has the chops also because he makes you invest in the movie.
BUT, hopefully Nolan will stay and round off his Master Work.

RacerX

David Fincher FTW! NOT BRYAN SINGER! He has already gayed up enough superheroes.
Spock
Spock - 7/23/2009, 10:13 AM
@ shaman it was Rachel. I don't want to see a Miller style Batman movie. That was similar to the anime Batman movie that came out last year. Didnt' like that @ all.

James Cameron maybe, Synder. but no Miller for me.
30days of night has the most horrible Vampire movie ever. Underworld was way better!!!!!
MarkCassidy
MarkCassidy - 7/23/2009, 10:50 AM
loo, im with big gay al i have to say..who i just watched in an ep of South Park last night! Underworld movies are awful. They are all style over substance with shit performances and a story we have seen a million times before. They look good, that's it. Wiseman is a hack imo. Who else would cast Scott Speedman in any role were he had to open his mouth?

Aronofsky would be the best bet. He was originally sposed to write and direct Batman Begins, but his treatment wasa deemed to dark and violent..that's what we want!
TDKR11
TDKR11 - 7/23/2009, 11:06 AM
I perpher to go with a Directer who's a comic book fan. Singer is a hell no.DePalma I dont think likes working on comic book movies. Snyder is a directer I have no problem with. Michael Bay is someone I would like to see his take on the character and his world. I would have no problem with David S. Goyer directing the next Batman Movie since he co wrote Batman Begins and The Dark Knight, and he's a comic book fan as well.
Shaman
Shaman - 7/23/2009, 4:27 PM
TDKR11- Yes well he also MASACRED Blade 3. So no to Goyer.

Roar... yeah i'll give you that one. Speedman sucked. But Bill Nighy did not. Beckinsale IMO, gave her best performance in the first Underworld. The effects were decent, the action was massive and the story... well... it was a vampire film. I can understand if you're not a fan of the genre. But i am which is why you liked 30 days of nitgh and i refused to watch it. I [frick]ing hate zombies and they turned vampires into just that. But thanks for the Castlevania news, that's one i'm very eager for :)) Great point about Aronofsky. He could be just what the doctor ordered.

Spock- Oh... yes... Raaaaaaa-chel. Well she's dead. That's that LOL :P
Tobuttica
Tobuttica - 7/23/2009, 5:46 PM
I agree with Ror. Aronofsky would be the man to do it. I've said it before, but obviously it doesn't mean anything unless it comes from someone named Shaman or Rorshach.
Shaman
Shaman - 7/23/2009, 5:59 PM
LOLOL :P You said it before... just on this very thread LOL :P And i for one just said it "could" be good. I'm still not fully convinced. I still say there are a few on here that have better choices but to each's own. At least we're not talking Scorsese here.
MarkCassidy
MarkCassidy - 7/23/2009, 9:25 PM
I love vampire movies! But im kinda confused as to what you mean by that. I mean i love horror movies, sometimes they have vampires in them. Underworld could have been about Smurfs and Leprechauns at war and it would still have been a sub par movie. 30 days was a good, ferocious horror movie with animalistic vamps for a change, thats why i liked it. Then you have stuff like Near Dark or the Lost Boys, all good. Then i guess the more romantic version with Underworld and..dare i say it..Twishite! But even that can be done well with Interview With The Vampire, Let The Right One In etc.
Shaman
Shaman - 7/24/2009, 7:42 AM
I like the "sophisticated" aspect of the vampire over the primal thoughtless zombies. In 30 days of night, they seemed to go into the primal urges angle from what i saw in the trailers which doesn't appeal to me much.

I liked the Underworld concept which was taken from Vampire: The Mascarade RPG. I'm a fan of shows like Forever Knight and Kindred: The Embraced. The first Blade film is one of my favorites for the same reason. I'm not a fan of "Horror movies" as much as i am of "Vampire films". It's not the romance per say since I REALLY [frick]ING HATE TWITSHIT!!! There's just "something" to the "lore" that a concept like Castlevania explored brilliantly which totally does it for me.

I like the "mysticism" behind the creature. There's a culture that has developed over the years that really fascinates me. It goes beyond the creatures "needs" and the ways to kill it. And that's exactly what concepts like 30 days and Twitshit lack majorly. The "culture", the "lore", the "realm" if you will. When i watch a vampire film, i love to be able to "delve" into the realm that they offer. And i can't do it with films that are not focused on portraying such a realm like a simple "horror flick" with Vampires in it. It's hard to explain, but i hope you understand a bit better my point of view now.

Shaman - 7/24/2009, 8:59 AM
Cool, i had no idea. The trailers really didn't give much away. So as soon as i get over my extreme hatred of Josh Hartnett, i'll rent it :)

Tim Burton helped make Batman a cool character again for those that didn't read DKR and The Killing Joke. Why not give him another chance? After all, Warner Bros. stole the third flick from him and gave it to Schumacher (boiling inner hatred) because his direction was too dark. Dark is what we want right?

Frank Miller has taken to directing now, so why not bring in the King himself to direct a third Batman? Granted I like the way Sin City and The Spirit were done, that's one thing I don't wanna see with a Batman movie. However, Miller would make good for Batman 3.

I like the idea of Zach Snyder, but I don't want to see an exact copy of DKR on the big screen (I can read the damn book if that's what I wanted).

David S. Goyer should stick to writing.

If were going to throw out names like Bryan Singer, why not go off the wall and suggest Gore Verbinski? Laugh at me all you will, but I like POC and maybe Batman 3 could give Verbinski some credit in another genre besides pirate. (JK)

I'll say this: If Nolan doesn't return, then I'd better not see nipples on the Batsuit again.

Why not Alfred Gough
Miles Millar they wanted to do him instead of superman in the first place

Anyone of these guys except for singer would be great as director. And I say Tom Hardy for the joker in the next one.

I think we are all just afraid that if Nolan leaves we'll get a bad director like when burton left, but even if its a good director nobody will be better than Nolan.
