Musings On WORLD'S FINEST

A basic run-down from a newer DC fan.

Over the past few weeks, there's been very little else on my mind than Man of Steel 2/World's Finest/Batman vs. Superman. Last night, this all kicked into high-gear when the news broke about Ben Affleck dawning the cowl. Fortunately for her, my wife was sleeping and I somehow managed to not wake her up and nerd out all over her. I thought about it, but I like being married.
I also needed to sleep on it. I'm still not too sure how I feel about the casting, but I know what I want to see out of the film.

Having spoken to many fans about this movie, I still hold the belief that Lex Luthor can not be the only enemy in this film. What I've imagined is more along the lines of the new 52 relaunch of Superman. At the end of the last film, we see the Man of Tomorrow throw a drone at a dude. He threw a drone at a military general. Threw it. From the sky.

I don't know about you, but were I involved in the US Military and aliens are throwing drones at my men, I'd be looking for a solution to this problem right away. A project jointly funded by LexCorp, the US Government and Wayne Enterprises is hatched and called Metal-0. The project's chief designers Lex Luthor and John Henry Irons, though both brilliant, do not exactly get along. They have both agreed on a test subject: John Corben. After a number of conflicts about what exactly Metal-0 should do, Irons leaves the project. Luthor then becomes the head designer on what will be a near-indestructible suit with the world's most advanced AI on board. As Luthor continually moves towards weaponizing the suit, the viewer finds out why Wayne enterprises would be involved with this: Information.

The only thing Bruce Wayne lacked in figuring out a response to Superman was information, and being a financial backer to a project designed to take out Superman would give one all the information they might need. Once Wayne has the info, and realizes what Luthor is moving towards - he pulls out of the Metal-0 project essentially shutting it down.
Luthor is furious. Feeling betrayed by Wayne and Irons, he ensures that his vision of their creation comes to pass. Unfortunately, the AI in the Metal-0 suit is a bit more intelligent than they thought. We only get glimmers of it, but for those looking for it, we will see signs of Brianiac controlling the Metallo.

While this is happening, Bruce Wayne and/or Batman confronts Luthor, Superman attempts to deal with Metallo but needs help. While Batman is tied up, someone completely unexpected steps into the fray: John Henry Irons. Dawning an earlier prototype of the suit John Corben is wreaking havoc in, Irons becomes Steel.

Steel tends to, and takes care of, Metallo. Superman has a cursory conflict with Batman, realizing too late that the two fight on the same side. While they battle amongst themselves, Luthor gets away. Then comes the team-up and final take-down while already having established a ton of great Superman stuff.

Now, keep in mind, I'm referencing new 52 more than golden, silver or bronze-age characters because that's where this movie should be looking, imho. Also, I'm more familiar with it.

Anyway, just a few thoughts. What do you think?

1. This should be under fan fic
2. You're a good writer
3. I kind of love the idea. Just on a general skeleton of a premise, a lot if it fits together quite well.

Right now it feels a little bit like a TV episode in my head, but that's probably just because I need more information. Where do characters like lois lane fit in? And don't forget that Man of Steel and the previous Bat-movies are very dramatic and weighty. What would the themes of this story be?

what do we learn about the character, or what do they learn about themselves? these are just some of the questions to think about when putting a feature film like this together.
anyway good job!
