The Batman has found a cinematographer in the form of Academy Award-nominee Greig Fraser.

THR reports that the Aussie cinematographer, who was nominated for an Oscar for his work on Garth Davis' 2016 biographical drama Lion, will re-team with Let Me In director Matt Reeves to shoot the standalone film, which will star Robert Pattinson as a younger take on The Dark Knight.

Fraser's other projects include Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Zero Dark Thirty, Vice and Foxcatcher. He is currently filming Denis Villeneuve's Dune.

"It’s great to be working with Matt again," said Fraser in a statement . "The Batman franchise is iconic and its a privilege to now be able to visualize it in my own way. Especially with the cumulative creative potential of all the talent and technicians we have in front of and behind the camera."

The Batman is set to hit theaters on June 25, 2021.

ok i come to the conclusion since i'm not a hardcore SW fan i can finally say i think Rogue One was the best SW film imo of course ......

the layout, the scale and landscape felt so down to earth but far away in rogue one .... i think Reeves is in this for a full trilogy with batman . this is a great addition to this production.

@knocturnalzen10 - as more time passes I agree. Rogue one (though not perfect) feels like the most complete SW film of the Disney Era.

Maybe because it has that Dirty Dozen/Wild Bunch finality to it and Disney was willing to go that point where the heroes all meet their destinies.

STILL woudl love to see the original cut/ending especially the beach charge against the Imperial Walkers

@knocturnalzen10 - Rogue One grounded everything in a way that hasn't been done since the Original Trilogy.

The danger felt real and tangible.

@IronGenesis - yea it was the Rogue One story and honestly oddly enough i felt more stacks and weight with that film than the other SW films .... not taking away from the other films .... but over time re-watching all of them Rogue one definitely felt better to me .

I don’t know if this shot would destroy the more “realistic/non-cgi” world I’m hoping for

It I would love to (if it’s not cheesy in live action) one of those Batman Animated Series shots where the Gangster is in a dark room and then just two white eyes appear behind them in the blackness.

@IronGenesis - Tired of all the "realism" fetish for Batman. Give me a movie about Batman that's like the Arkham knight series and the Animated Series otherwise why even bother.

@KingCipher - "Batman cuts the lights and walks through thugs."

this is something I've wanted to see for a while. Begins had its own take but I wasn't a fan of the execution.

I mean really turn out all of the lights. Everything goe dim, but maybe some emergency lights begin to flicker on and off every few seconds. We see Bats take each one of them out in a way that makes him appear more than human. They see him at the end of the corridor, shoot but he vanishes. Lights go out. Maybe Bruce hacks their comms and actually speaks to them. The he goes to work.

Year One kind of got it right here. Something like this tonally and conceptually. Its all very stealth

@tmp3 - It does not seem right...there a a number of roles that had yet to be cast...so maybe it is just for the filming in Budapest.

@Forthas - ???
It does seem right. Every role for this installment was cast, and Denis' films are incredibly polished. Blade Runner 2049 had the best VFX for any film this decade, and it feels like Denis' trying to top himself.

@tmp3 - 2049 VFX is so outlandishly good to me it rival Avatar, because one had a budget to support 4 small countries and the other didn't ,i didn't think there wasn't a huge qt gap.... Denis films feel like visual xp's

@tmp3 - If you look at the IMDB page, there is no listing for... Emperor Shaddam IV, Feyd-Rautha, Princess Irulan nor Shadout Mapes.

If he plans to be faithful to the book, there is no way these characters can be left out.
