THE BATMAN's Viral Website Has Been Updated With A Mysterious Countdown And Ominous Message

The Batman's viral website has been updated with a mysterious countdown and ominous message, but what could it be leading to? We have more details for you here, but be warned that SPOILERS do follow...

SPOILERS FOLLOW!

The Batman doesn't feature a post-credits scene, but there is a URL pointing fans to https://www.rataalada.com/. Up until a few days ago, it still featured a few riddles that would unlock a video teasing Thomas Wayne's involvement in the corruption Gotham City has fallen victim to.

However, it's just received a potentially significant update.

With The Batman now playing in theaters, a visit to the site currently sees a sequence play with the website being rerouted through various networks, including one belonging to Arkham State Hospital. From there, you'll be taken to a page that features a link titled "[CLICK FOR REWARD]." A countdown below currently sits at 27% and is slowly updating; what arrives at 100% remains to be seen.

The aforementioned link leads us to a coded message:

Intriguing, eh? The Batman director Matt Reeves has talked about releasing a deleted scene featuring the World's Greatest Detective confronting The Joker in Arkham, so perhaps that's what we'll see? A sequel announcement is also possible, though it might be something a little less exciting! The fact that it's been updated to coincide with the movie's release could be significant, however.

We'll obviously keep an eye on that countdown and bring you updates as soon as we have them.

The Batman is now playing in theaters worldwide.

Riddlers craziness was dialled up a little higher than I expected

@ThorArms - Yep, I expect another cameo or short scene in the next one and main villain status on the 3rd.

@ThorArms - Matt Reeves has said in an interview that the Joker scene was intended to show that he exists in this universe and that he didn't intend for it to be a set up for the next movie and doesn't intend using him if he does a sequel.

It was more of a "yes, Batman's wider range of villains do exist in this world" acknowledgement.

It's at 28% now.
It seems to increase at least 2% per day.
It should reach 100% in a few weeks.

I always like these sorts of tie-ins, but for all the money these films make, these tie-ins tend to be rather under-developed. Like in this case, they could develop an AR type experience similar to Pokemon Go where people are walking around gathering clues and solving Riddler puzzles for about $500k. That's not cheap, but an experience like that could really go viral and create even more demand for the film as well as it's own revenue streams.

Message is "You think I'm finished but perhaps you don't know the full truth. Every ending is a new beginning. Something is coming." by the way.

Now that Riddler has been been given justice on the big screen, Poison Ivy and Mr. Freeze are left. Well I guess you can add KGBeast for Batman villains being given shit end of the stick.

@gordonh7 - I heard. He would be great. It would be a good way to delve into the Bruce Wayne persona being Batman’s mask.

I'm hoping for something actually worthwhile. A TRUE after credits scene, a message from the Riddler, or Mr. J (or BOTH! ;] ), Perhaps a setup for Penguin or GCPD.

I just really love how "sure" Reeves' direction for Gotham felt. It actually is not my favorite Batman movie STORY-wise, but in terms of World-building, style, character dynamics and design; WB & Reeves reeeeally knocked it out of the park with The Batman. What a stellar launch to build upon for this cinematic universe.

More please! As soon as possible, if you don't mind...
