Like so many other productions, the upcoming Max The Batman spin-off revolving around one of the Caped Crusader's most iconic villains, The Penguin, was forced to take a hiatus from filming due to the Hollywood strikes, but we now have word that cameras are set to begin rolling again next week.

In addition, Empire Magazine has revealed a new look at Colin Farrell as Oswald Cobbelpot, who made his memorable debut in Matt Reeves' The Batman.

We knew that this show would take place soon after the events of the movie, but it's now been confirmed that it'll actually "pick up days after where The Batman ended, exploring the moves that Cobblepot makes in the power vacuum left by Carmine Falcone’s departure"

Check out the new still at the link below.

We're still waiting on a full trailer, but Max did share an "In Production" teaser earlier this year, giving us a first glimpse of some footage from the series. In it, we see Cobblepot set about establishing himself as the "new Kingpin of Gotham" following the void that was left in the city's underworld after Falcone's death at the end of The Batman.

We also get a first glimpse of Cristin Milioti as Carmine’s daughter Sofia Falcone; Michael Zegen as Carmine’s son Alberto Falcone; and Clancy Brown as rival mobster Salvatore Maroni.

Then, right at the end, we see how ruthless the Penguin can be in a moment that seems to be paying homage to one of the villain's more infamous deeds in the comics, which saw him gun down a waiter in cold blood with very little provocation.

Lauren LeFranc (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) is on board as showrunner and exec producer along with The Batman writer-director Matt Reeves. Executive producer Craig Zobel (Mare of Easttown) is directing the first three episodes.

The eight-episode series will also feature Rhenzy Feliz, Michael Kelly, Shohreh Aghdashloo, Deirdre O’Connell, Carmen Ejogo, François Chau, Theo Rossi, and David H. Holmes in supporting roles.

The Penguin hasn't been given an exact release date, but is reportedly still on track to premiere at some point in 2024. Are you looking forward to the show? Be sure to let us know in the comments section.

Rumor: the penguin series to begin sometime before the events of infinity war.

How does that make any sense?

Doomsday8888 - 11/21/2023, 10:09 AM
The only character worth a f*ck in that movie.

Ya my book.

Other than that, they offered absolutely nothing new.
Nomis929 - 11/21/2023, 10:13 AM
@Doomsday8888 -

That movie was such a waste of time.
Gabimaru - 11/21/2023, 10:22 AM
@Doomsday8888 - Everyone's claiming it to be the best batman movie since the dark knight but i just don't see it. i mean sure it has some great visuals? but there's nothing new they bring on the table for that movie.
harryba11zack - 11/21/2023, 10:33 AM
@Doomsday8888 - I agree, THE PENGUIN and the visual tone was the only thing I liked about the film. everything else about it was just very meh and dogsh1t.
mountainman - 11/21/2023, 10:35 AM
@Doomsday8888 - The atmosphere was well done, but you’re right that the characters were mostly just there. Penguin was by far the best part of it. Riddler was a different take, but it didn’t land as well as i think they wanted it to. Batman, Gordon, Catwoman were all decent but not great takes.
HashTagSwagg - 11/21/2023, 10:40 AM
@Doomsday8888 - That first trailer was the best thing to come out of that movie, Penguin was the only interesting character, the rest were just forgettable. If not for the tone, I'd consider it as bland and by the numbers as Spider-man Homecoming. Like it just hits that level of mediocre where its not bad enough to hate or good enough to remember, you just don't care for it which sucks because it's a Batman.
Doomsday8888 - 11/21/2023, 11:21 AM

Welp i stand corrected, guess i'm not in the minority as i thought i was, cheers!

Didn't had the chance to say this but...

Long time no see, Nomis! :D
You managed to escape this madhouse but i guess you were missing your fellow mad men, ey? :P
Nomis929 - 11/21/2023, 11:49 AM
@Doomsday8888 - Thanks DD8888.

I went to "the Bunker" to get out from all the craziness but..

@Gabimaru - I don't know if it was the best Batman movie, but I think they brought the detective element to it like no other Batman movie. No other movie hit that point like this one and it made the movie feel nearly like an old detective movie from the 80's. I'm not trying to argue, I can enjoy the movie knowing others didn't like it. I guess I would ask you what else do you want to see in a Batman movie that hasn't been done?
Gabimaru - 11/22/2023, 3:29 AM
@karlel - i actually want something like the batman arkham games tone. I was a fan of se7en and zodiac both heavily inspired from the works of david fincher yet i wasn't a fan of this film. To me personally the movie is trying way too hard to be like a david fincher film. And it didn't work.

He was great. Now give him a monocle, a top hat and deadly umbrellas
marvel72 - 11/21/2023, 10:35 AM
I do like The Batman, so I'll definitely be checking this out.

AmazingFILMporg - 11/21/2023, 10:43 AM
This is my DC 💪

In Reeves I trust🙋🖖🦸🔥💯😎
hue66 - 11/21/2023, 10:57 AM
The most boring batman movie. Even considering the camper ones
TheNewYorker - 11/21/2023, 11:32 AM
@hue66 - your imaginary girlfriend doesn’t even believe that. Stop it LOL
GodHercules20 - 11/21/2023, 3:04 PM
@hue66 - Not just boring, costumes were utter rubbish. I've seen better costumes by cosplayers.

How hard is it to make a proper Batman movie? If it's hard just copy Arkham games.
TruePunishment - 11/21/2023, 11:00 AM
I loved The Batman, saw it in the double digits in theaters. Can not wait for this series!
TheVisionary25 - 11/21/2023, 11:03 AM
@TruePunishment - I liked it a lot

Idk about these spin-offs yet but can’t wait for the sequel!!.
TheVisionary25 - 11/21/2023, 11:07 AM
I enjoyed Farrell’s performance in the Batman but I’m still unsure about this version of The Penguin being the lead of his own story though…

We’ll see since I do like the creative team & cast involved!!.

TheNewYorker - 11/21/2023, 11:30 AM
The Batman, was cinematic masterpiece. Anyone into photography/ videography would agree.

Sureeee.. it wasn’t the most exciting movie ever. Sure lol Still great. I’m sure The Penguin, will be too.
ModHaterSLADE - 11/21/2023, 12:11 PM
Some of his best work is as this character IMO.
OrgasmicPotatoe - 11/21/2023, 12:58 PM
I'm still in denial, there's just no way this is Colin Farrel !😤
JollyR - 11/21/2023, 1:30 PM
I'm sorry but why is nobody learning their lesson? Stop giving spin offs to side characters and forcing a universe out of everything. At this point the movie was a few years ago with no substantial news on a sequel or anything. I'm not sure how studios aren't watching Disney and the MCU and thinking to themselves let's dial it back instead of let's move forward...with THE PENGUIN??? And honestly it was a great take on the character but still it's enough already no?
OrgasmicPotatoe - 11/21/2023, 1:50 PM
@JollyR - no
