Chris Nolan Briefly Talks TDKR

Chris Nolan Briefly Talks TDKR

And I mean briefly! He doesn't say anything too revealing, but says that there is a good reason why he cast Tom Hardy and Anne Hathaway, and confirms that this will definitely be his last Batman movie..

MTV caught Chris Nolan on the Oscars red carpet. And while Josh Horowitz valiantly tried to pry some, info out of him on TDKR, he unsurprisingly didn't get too much out of the notoriously tight lipped director.

But here is what Nolan did offer up.

When asked about the casting of Anne Hathway as Catwoman and Tom Hardy as Bane, Nolan Says when we see them in their respective roles we will understand why he cast them.

When asked about what the theme of TDKR will be but says that's a very good question but that he will "have to get back to you"

He is then asked if this will definitely be his last Batman movie to which he nods definitively and when asked if there was any possibility of him staying on as producer for future films he says he is very exited to finish the story and bring it to a proper conclusion.

Yeesh, talk about brief.
Well that kills every doubt that Bale won't be Batman after TDKR.

I think when he smiled and shook his head (even though this should have been explained by the writer), he was saying no and smiling like "No, muther[frick]er. None of that shit is happening, so stop it."

Im glad he's sticking to 3 movies. Still how much information would YOU give a red carpet journalist if you were directing this movie? El Zilcho.

I figured it was his last, I just hope his conclusion isn't TOO concluding...

I want to believe that his world could open up to some of the more fantastical villains in Batman's menagerie. Or at least make it feel like there's more stories to tell 'somewhere'

I think the next Bat-flick will more than likely be TDK Returns in 5 yrs or so...good excuse for a joker recast, plus the joker is yet again SO DIFFERENT from any previous version seen.

also, the last 2 movies titles suggest that they're headin that way

God I hate Nolan. I hate it when celebrities buy into their own hype. Ok dude...you made some cool movies. So did Woody Allen. So did Olvier Stone. So did Francis Ford Coppola. Even "swatch" watches were pretty cool for quite some time. I know you've currently got your head in the clouds, but don't forget to that your feet are on the ground. He seems to me like one of those dudes who have that "nah nah I told you so attitude as opposed to artists who are able to genuinely show appreciation and gratitude that such a large amount of people were able to share his creative vision. Those are the kind of people we love to build up just to watch them fall. And Inception wasn't that good. Take that!

Neither Nolan or Bale will come back cos there will be nothing to come back to.

I really do think Batman will die in this - but Gotham will be saved.

@Orphix Wow...you totally have a point there. What better manifestation of Nolon's God Complex. To him the only worthy Batman tale is the one told by him, and therefore it's only fitting it be the FINAL one. He's a jerk. I could totally see him killng Batman.

LMAO!!!! superpooper. You've been saying what I've been thinking for a while now. I love Nolans films but I am fully aware of his bigass head and Godly ego. I tolerate it because he makes good films and some sick part of me thinks he's earned the right to be a dick. But I can't ignore it.

I think his off-the-wall choice for Bane was simply based on adding a villain that fans would NEVER expect. I hope he hasn't done that at the expense of the best film he could make. Riddler was perfect in my opinion and I think he went against the grain just to be different. I have no doubt that TDKR will be an awesome film (his ego will not settle for low quality film making), but at the same time, I'm not really sad that he's done after this. He set the tone, and I doubt any other writer/director will play Batman campy after this. He did his job.

@Neo dude, are we related? Read what I just post about you on the Cap thing. I hadn't read this yet lol. Weird. I think we may actually be somewhat intelligent. lol.

@Superpooper
Can't see how saying nothing equates a god-complex???
To me he seems egoless.He actively avoids the press and interviews in general.Also take into account all the positive experiences actors and crew have had on his movies (many return again and again) and he must be a charming aswell as talented man.I think he's just shy and loves his work.Give him a break lol
I'm friends with and work with Colin McFarlane and he has nothing but praise for the man.I've also had drinks with Tom Hardy recently and he loves the man too.So be fair,and don't let what some parts of the media assume,to become your solid opinion.After all they probably bash him a bit because he won't talk to them! :)
@Neo
All the above,plus,I also just read all your comments on the Cap thread and I agree completely! :)

I think we can all agree that yes, that interview was definitely BRIEF! But you can't really blame him for that, he was probably concerned with what Inception would win. Oh well...no matter what anybody says about this movie, I'm still extremely pumped for it!!!

Did anyone consider he chose Bane and Catwoman because both characters had been in the prior series of Batman films and both had been given the royal [frick]-ola by the previous directors?

Nolan is a pretentious ass.. but if I had successfully rebooted an iconic character that was previously considered a joke (and make a SHIT-TON of cash) I'd probably have a bit of a swelled ego too.

Now quit the whining and wait for it to come out.
