BATMAN BEGINS And THE DARK KNIGHT Are The Latest Movies Set To Leave HBO Max For Peacock

There's more bad news for HBO Max subscribers. Following the announcement that the Harry Potter movies are being moved to Peacock, Batman Begins and The Dark Knight are set to join them later this year...

Back in 2016, network and cable television executives had no plans for their own streaming services, but that's all changed in the past year or two. What's so important about 2016? Well, that was when Warner Bros. signed a lucrative $250 million deal with NBCUniversal to give them exclusive TV rights to a number of movies, including the entire Harry Potter franchise.

The Boy Wizard's eight adventures won't be alone in moving from HBO Max to NBCUniversal's Peacock, however, as The Verge reports that Batman Begins and The Dark Knight will join them at some point in the next six months.

This is a huge blow to WarnerMedia's new platform, as The Dark Knight Trilogy has been a huge draw to DC Comics fans, and while a lot of original content is coming to HBO Max, it's definitely going to hurt for important titles like these to be missing from the back catalogue.

Other major movies coming to Peacock over the next six months include The Big Lebowski, Catwoman, Dawn of the Dead, Beetlejuice, and the Bourne trilogy. That certainly gives subscribers a fair few reasons to sign up for this service, but with franchises split across multiple platforms, it's getting harder and harder to decide which is most worth paying for.

Even the U.S. version of Disney+ was missing some Marvel titles to begin with, but that's started to change, so that's probably still your best bet for finding (almost) everything in one place.

@kylo0607 - Just a couple lighthearted flicks.

Want people to go back the the theater, re release The Dark Knight trilogy in marathon showings. I did it when The Dark Knight Rises came out, ill do it again, if they put them back in theaters. Still the best comic book trilogy.

hopefully Matt Reeve can live up to it

@dracula - How can it be the best comic book trilogy when the third film is outright horrible?
dracula
dracula - 8/7/2020, 3:45 AM
@TH29 - how was it horrible. It didnt live up to the dark knight, but its a LOT better than most of the comic book movies of the 2000’s. Better than Spiderman 3 that for sure

@TH29 - flawed, but outright horrible? Opening scene alone is better than most of DCs latest efforts

@manofillintent1 - Opening scene alone is better than most comic book films ever made imo. Yeah it doesn't hold up against the previous two movies, but it still has more than enough good to be an awesome film.

@RandyOrtonLF - I agree, always an avid defender of TDKR

@TH29 - 3rd movie is much better then its given credit for. It has some flaws but its a very enjoyable movie and is sadly held to a higher standard than most because of the TDK.

@TH29

Another blanket statement on CBM...lmao...

@dracula

“ its a LOT better than most of the comic book movies of the 2000’s”

Shit, it’s a better movie than a lot of CBMs that came out in the 2010s.

@manofillintent1 - A good opening scene doesnt keep a movie from being terrible when the rest of it is full of terrible writing and nonsensical plot points.

@dracula - Spider-Man 3 sucks too!
TH29
TH29 - 8/13/2020, 3:26 AM
@regularmovieguy - It's a poorly written, conceived and put together film on many levels. Some good acting and nice cinemtography don't change that.
TH29
TH29 - 8/13/2020, 3:29 AM
@dracula - The whole film betrays everything about Batman AND the films that came before it. Any Batman film that starts with Batman having given up for 8 years when all he apparently needed was his magic concrete kicking knee brace is starting off on a nonsensical bad foot, and it only got worse from there.

@manofillintent1 - Opening scene to Batman vs Superman is pretty cool too...doesnt mean the movie is something to be praised if the rest is shit.
TH29
TH29 - 8/13/2020, 9:23 PM
@coderaven - Its a major step down from the previous one. I wont argue that someone should or cant enjoy watching it. But from a filmmaking standpoint, it is majorly flawed on its own.

manofillintent1 - 8/14/2020, 1:27 AM
@TH29 - I felt no excitement or intensity at the beginning of BVS so no, not really, I never said a good opening makes up for a bad movie, just said TDKR isn’t “terrible” like you’re making it out to be, it’s better than a lot in the genre

While it would be nice having everything on there at once, how many times are you going to watch something month after month?

This article also reads like an ad for D+ even though Peacock and HBOMAX are the only pertinent streaming services in the article. My grammar isn’t perfect but that last sentence is incredibly long for saying “if you want to watch MCU movies, Disney+ has almost everything.” TDK and Batman Begins will never be on there haha

@regularmovieguy - IDK, HBO and Peacock kinda suck tho, the launch was horrendous.
regularmovieguy
regularmovieguy - 8/7/2020, 10:24 AM
@JustALurker

Terrible from what? A branding standpoint, yeah. It’s a little confusing what they have available between HBO/Warner Media/Cartoon Network and other licensed properties.

But the launch wasn’t terrible despite them not having Roku and Fire distribution which they will absolutely have. It’s just a matter of when.

From a content perspective, I’m putting it next to Netflix. HBO by itself was enough to keep me subscribed.

But, yeah, if you want everything blockbuster or underdog movies it’s probably a terrible service.

To make money. Like any streaming service.

@JustALurker

Not for me, fam. I used to pirate.

I currently subscribe to Disney+, ESPN+, Hulu, Netflix, HBOMAX, Prime and I have a Starz membership which I’ve been meaning to get rid of.

Prolly going to cancel Disney+ in November and resubscribe at the end of every MCU series.

@regularmovieguy - all power to you, we need consumers to keep piracy going, if everyone pirates, studios will work harder to prevent it.
