Batman Begins grounded the Dark Knight in reality, and it appears The Batman will do the same. We saw Warner Bros. embrace a comic accurate Batman with Zack Snyder's movies, but the hero facing off with Superman and battling Parademons alongside the Justice League drew a surprisingly mixed response from fans.
Reeves plans to focus on the "World's Greatest Detective" side of the iconic DC Comics character, and some newly released images offer a better idea of how his villains are going to be affected by this latest big screen take on Batman.
The Riddler might not have a bowler hat or cane, but he definitely looks every bit the twisted serial killer. A question mark has been incorporated into his costume, and as drastic a change as this might be from what we've seen in the source material, it's one that arguably feels right for the villain in 2022.
As for The Penguin, Colin Farrell has insisted that he's simply "Oz" when we meet him in The Batman, but we're getting some undeniable classic comic book villain vibes off him here. When he does become "The Penguin," it's fair to say the actor has the perfect look to bring the character to life on screen.
There's not long to go now until the movie is released, and we're expecting to see much more from this one over the coming weeks. Hopefully, Warner Bros. releases similar shots of other characters.
The Batman is set to be released in theaters on March 4.
