What now for the Batman movies?

My thoughts on rebooting Batman.

Nolan's Batman movies were great movies, not great comic book movies. As a collected comic book movie society on here we all know a reboot is going to happen. We all know that the reboot can't be like the Nolan movies or God forbid like Batman and Robin or Forever. So how can they make a new movie better and different enough. The issue with Batman in a movie it's hard to use the version that each person has of Batman. Is he more like Sherlock Holmes, Zorro, or Thomas Edison, I always thought he's a mix of all three.

I can't think of a Batman movie besides Adam West that shows all his skills set. In the Nolan movie he wasn't capable of solving things for himself. Lucius Fox solved the Scarecrow venom, invented the basic unit for the sonar to catch the Joker, and he had a plan to disarm Talia's bomb. Alfred did much of the thinking at home by putting the mask together, his idea to use the cave, and how to fly out of the building in The Dark Knight. The new Batman needs to be smarter in every form of technology and problem solving. In the Nolan's movie all he did was make some batarangs and fix an auto-pilot. I want him putting an engine together then clean up his hand up and upgrade the hard-drive. If there using a toxin he solves it, if there's a weakness on an enemy he solves it. If you make him more self reliant he would be a stronger force to be reckon with in the JLA movie. He needs a thing to make him stick out in the JLA movie and I think it can be his brain by figuring out the main enemy weakness.

Batman is one of the best fighter in the comic universe but which style do we use. Each of the Nolan's movie showed his different styles. To the stealth at the shipping yard, to strategically taking down of Joker thugs, to using pure brute force versus Bane. The way to make work is to have him fight better fighters. (See the Villains in the next paragraph) The boss fights were all disappointing besides the Bane fights. The Joker fight was quick, he tackled two face, and left Ra's to crash to his doom. If there's another Ra's in the remake have him take to league of ASSASSINS out with stealth and have Ra's and Batman fight with swords. The final fights should be more like Man of Steal (Without the Death thing) and less then Ghost Rider. He needs to use each method per movie, not one for each per movie.

The villains selection for the movies are huge and wide to choose from. We all know the villain list in the movies so far. Who do we reuse, drop, and take away. There's two I would like in the next batch: Joker and Ra's. I want Harvey Dent in the movies but he doesn't become two face. The list of villains I would want to see Mad Hatter, Deathstroke, and Killer Croc or ManBat. The reason I want Mad Hatter is to have Jervis Tech a worker at Wayne Tech using is mind control technology to steal from the business. By having him work at Wayne Tech he could use Bruce to embezzle the money for the himself. Have the Hatter snap and try to recreate Alice in Wonderland because his own technology fries part of the brain. He starts stealing children to play different parts of Wonderland. One turns out to be Barbara Gordon to be his Alice.(This part is from Batman: Long Halloween.) It would start an origin story for Batgirl. Deathstroke would be a hit-man for Black Mask, Rupert Thorn, or Lex Luther. I thought if Lex target Bruce Wayne for a business edge it would be a chance to do a crossover. Joker is another character that has changed through the ages and how to use him. I would prefer the more flamboyant version. I want him to use gadgets like the bang gun and laughing gas. The tattering teeth might be to much to use. The league of assassins would have more names in it like Merlin, Hook, and we need Ubu. I've always liked Ra's needed Batman to replace him and I would like to see that. Have Batman listen to the offer and deny once he sees of vile the organization is. The villain list can change to any of the other guys I just can't see Mr. Freeze, Maxius Zeus, Ventriloquist, and Riddler being any good.

So those are my thoughts how to make a Batman reboot. I'm going to try writing something every Thursday. Post suggestions.

If you can't see Riddler or Mr Freeze being a good villain, you must not be very creative.

I honestly think Batman isn't get a solo movie anytime soon, it's either World's Finest or Justice League.

Mr. Freeze comics have never been good when he's a villain instead of a misunderstood man. The misundertood villains are bad movies more often then not.

I know it's still early days n the show has a lot to prove, but what little I saw in Beware the Batman interested me; it was like the right kind of balance of Chris Nolan's grit with Tim Burton's dark fantasy n a Batman who actively used his brains alongside his brawn effectively- I think it'd b a solid place 2 draw some inspiration 4 when the Dark Knight returns to the big screen...

Maybe it's just me, but I don't think most of us want to see another Batman reboot. Nolan's version was great, but I doubt it would work in an expanded sense going forward, so a different version should be expected.

What they could do, as I've posted in another article, is give us the "new" Batman in a Superman / Batman team up movie (World's Finest?) and then segue that into JLA.

After establishing the "new" Batman in those two movies, WB/DC could then continue on with more Batman adventures.

All I know is that I want to see Mr. Freeze in the reboot. Mr. Freeze is such a great villain and one of my favorites. My pick to play him is Ralph Fienes.
