BOX OFFICE: BATMAN v SUPERMAN Passes $400 Million Worldwide For The Biggest Superhero Opening EVER

The Avengers? Iron Man? Spider-Man? Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice has them all beat, as the Zack Snyder helmed release is already taking aim at half a billion dollars worldwide...

We've already updated you on how Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice performed in North America this weeked, but the movie has had an even bigger couple of days overseas. While initial estimates pointed to a $350 million haul, it's massively exceeded expectations with a whopping $424.1 million worldwide after raking in $254 million internationally. Warner Bros. spent a lot on this release between the $250 million budget and some big marketing costs, so this is a fantastic start as it takes aim at that all important $1 billion mark. Like the record breaking Jurassic World last year, Batman v Superman benefitted from a day and date release in China, but these numbers still mean that it had the biggest opening weekend of all-time worldwide for a superhero movie (in North America, it came in fourth behind The Avengers, Avengers: Age of Ultron, and Iron Man 3). It should pass $500 million in a matter of days, and with no serious competition in theaters right now, that number should keep on rising.

@MartyrSpray - For me both movies suffer the same problem, the difference for me is that Age of Ultron had a core that i never felt in Batman vs Superman.

In Age of Ultron we had the inner message, of "How Perfect this heroes believe they are and they create their own destruction and imperfection, who in some way work along to not only destroy the heroes but also show them how imperfect they are".

Also the movie is the tale of "An Imperfect being who search perfection but in the way he creates his own destruction".

So for me Age of Ultron had a core, the problem was that Kevin Feige tried to put too much teasing into the future movies and this end up destroying the own story.

In some way Batman vs Superman dont had the problem of the fan service, having only 3 or 4 scenes around teasing the future movies. But Age of Ultron had a plot who mess a lot with things they didnt need to mess up with.

But in the other side of the coin, Age of Ultron has a core, a inner message, while in Batman vs Superman i dont find a core, an inner message, i only find messages about Batman, Superman and Lex Luthor. But not one central message who tied everything together...
