Personally I like DCCU (DC Cinematic Universe) better. But I understand why they didn't use that acronym since Marvel has coined 'cinematic' already and the WB wants to have its own identity. What I'm confused is -what is the DCEU an extension of? So in that regard, 'extended' is sort of a weak descriptor.

@String

An extension of the comics perhaps?

Maybe this new classification champions the idea that tv, adapted comics, video games, ect. can interact in this universe. That's what i take from it anyway.

I think they're going to announce soon that the TV shows (as well as the comics and games) are all part of the same universe. I don't know if you remember, but a while ago Stephen Amell said that he had some chats with Geoff Johns-

"The plans that Warner Bros. has, and it's a great plan, overall, and DC has for the introduction to the Justice League of America and all the standalone films, is going to take place over the course of five to six years. So who knows what could happen" said Amell. "I've had some great conversations with Geoff Johns, who is DC's Chief Creative Officer. We had this conversation shortly after these announcements were made, and I came away from the conversation feeling great."

I think the movies and the TV shows might be part of the same... not universe, but multiverse. So they can all do their own thing and maybe it'll all cross over at one point. I don't know.

As much as I love "Arrow" and "The Flash" (and I do, I think they're awesome sauce), I don't want them to be part of Earth Prime ([frick] it, I'm calling the universe that). However, if the TVverse is like Earth 2 or Earth S or whatever, it could work.

So maybe Warner has a Crisis like event planned for the future.

DCEU reminds me of Star Wars' Expanded Universe, which was also called the EU.

Yeah, that's the only thing I can think of. Most people seem to have forgotten about that interview with Amell, but it's been in my mind ever since I read it. I think everything will tie in together somehow. Which WOULD make sense, since the whole Multiverse thing IS very much so a defining trait of the DC Universe in the comics.

@Gusto

In the Gustoverse, John Stewart IS still the lead of the the new Green Lantern movie.
