Early BATMAN v SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE Concept Art Shows A Comic Accurate Take On THE FLASH

It's fair to say the majority of fans weren't particularly happy with The Flash's Justice League costume but a Batman v Superman concept artist has now shared a much earlier design of the suit...

Zack Snyder took Barry Allen down a very interesting route in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League, making him a teenager and giving the Fastest Man Alive a homemade costume as opposed to one created by the Speed Force. Many fans were disappointed by the Scarlet Speedster's cobbled together suit but it turns out that he could have ended up in a more comic accurate version.

This was dreamed up when Batman v Superman was in development and while Barry did wear a suit in that movie, it was during that pretty confusing time-travel sequence as opposed to the present day.

With the upcoming solo outing for the character seemingly rebooting the hero to at least some extent, it will be interesting seeing if that also includes a new suit because the movie would be the perfect place to improve his appearance and make him less of a Peter Parker-style goof. What do you guys think? Were you happy with The Flash's appearance in Justice League? Share your thoughts below.

@Mumbix - it's still not comic accurate though

@RocknRolla - It’s gotta be hard to make a “comic accurate” Flash outfit work in live-action. It has a lot of the same problems as the Captain America comic costume: It’s a brightly colored, skintight onesie with ear ornaments. Marvel, after a couple of tries, was able to come up with a suit design that’s a good mix of comic accurate and tactical. You could show me a grayscale image of the cap suit, without the stars, shield and wings, and I’d still be able to tell that it’s Captain America. The same cannot be said for the movie Flash costume design. It looks too busy and unnecessarily complex.

I almost wish they had given him a crappy, low-tech homemade suit, instead of the 3D printed, space shuttle material bungeed-together thing we got.

@santoanderson - isn't the trajectory of the cap suits odd?

I felt like his first real one in TFA was pretty solid, then A1 happened, but then since Winter Soldier it's been smooth sailing.

Even with the explanation that it was Coulson's design choice, A1's suit will go down as my least favorite.

Regardless, the trial by error and now 6+ attempts to adapt the suit have paid off

@ftf530 - I think the smartest thing Marvel did, for Cap, was introducing the classic comic book outfit in a way that made sense within the context of the movie.

He didn’t just throw on a pair of patriotic PJs and run into battle. It was a silly outfit he had to wear for the USO. And since they found a smart way to use that outfit, they were also able to borrow elements of that outfit for future designs.

The Flash needs something like that. He needs a reason to explain why he wears a bright red onesie with lightning bolts over his ears. Having him just show up in it raises an awful lot of questions.

@santoanderson - good point - I forget to count the USO one since he hasn't really "become" the cap we know just yet - though that one makes more sense for it's goofiness than A1's velcro suit.

Same as what you're saying about the USO suit, it's acceptable because they gave it an in story explanation, but the A1 suit explanation just isn't as good as the USO suit explanation

Does it though?

I wanna see any concepts modelled after other potential actors, and further question how the hell they landed on Ezra Miller for Barry. It doesn't matter who else they had in mind; they had to of been a better pick than Miller.

@Kurne - Snyder / WB trying too hard to be cerebral and artsy with the DCEU to set it apart from marvel. Remember they were on that wave of we’re bringing “real” filmmakers and actors to create movies

But shouldn't he have on like a raincoat or a trench coat?

And then Snyder snorted another line and went "Nah man, we ain't doin that shit. Give him like rusted metaaal, and CHAIIINNNS and shit."

That's worse than the one we got!

Looks better than the one we got but there is still too many armor looking pieces on it. Get rid of those and it would be almost perfect.

Brighter, but no-less ugly than the one from the movie IMO.

He looks like some kind of alien hybrid experiment gone wrong, i've always thought Flash's suit would be one of the easiest ones to translate.
