Henry Cavill Talks BATMAN v SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE; "Of Course Superman Is Going To Win..."
The actor also reveals why he won't be following in the footsteps of Christopher Reeve by portrayed Clark Kent as a bumbling buffoon in order to hide the fact he's secretly Superman!
Following the events of Man of Steel, public opinion on Superman is obviously divided when we meet up with him again in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, but it sounds like he's come a long way as a superhero since then. "He’s more used to this gig, doing his best to save as many lives as he can," Henry Cavill tells Empire Magazine (via What Culture). "He is no longer frantic. He’s no longer a wet behind the ears kind of superhero." However, it's his experience as a journalist which he's really going to use as a weapon in his hopes to take down The Batman. "He doesn’t agree with his form of justice. For this farm boy, who tries to do things the right way, justice at any cost is not something he can come to terms with." Of course, we already know that isn't going to work!
However, the actor adds that Clark still hopes to, "show the world what this Batman dude is doing." As for how that side of the character factors into this story, that too is a role which Kal-El has become more used to, though we're not going to see him trying to hide his secret by becoming a bumbling buffoon. "He is the human side of the character, but there is often this idea that Clark and Superman must be so different. He can only get away with wearing the glasses so much. If he's drawing attention to himself by being clumsy, that's not going to work." The actor also has some thoughts on how the eventual battle between the two heroes goes down, but his comments will no doubt upset fans of the Caped Crusader (though he does make a great point to be fair). "It's not about one on one. Of course Superman is going to win. But it's deeper than that. It's nore that these two great powers exist and are actually trying to acheive the same thing, but in such different way..."
It sounds like that's something we'll see factor into Justice League too, as Cavill describes Superman as "the guy who can kick anyone’s ass" but still "the nice one." What do you guys think?
