Is BatFleck Getting Too Pumped Up For Batman Too Soon? Trainer Rehan Jalali Says No Problem!

Is BatFleck Getting Too Pumped Up For Batman Too Soon? Trainer Rehan Jalali Says No Problem!

Costume Designer Trish Summerville says Ben Affleck is getting too big for David Fincher's Gone Girl shooting right now. Trainer Rehan Jalali thinks that's a good problem to have!

Merely a few days after Ben Affleck was controversially announced as the new Batman in Zack Snyder's BATMAN VS SUPERMAN, there were reports that he had started working out two hours a day to get in shape for the superhero role.

Seems like there was some truth to those reports as the costume designer on the current film he is filming, David Fincher's GONE GIRL, commented upon his progress and results so far. (via E! Online)

"I'm trying to keep him at the size he's at right now until he's done with us (GONE GIRL where he plays a suburban dad). I'm sure he's working out but I think for him, he's probably a guy that builds up really quickly so I just kind of asked him if he can stay where he's at right now. He's a really big guy, like he's quite tall. You don't realize how big he is. He kind of reads smaller on film than he does in real life.

Below is a photo from 5 days ago that does indeed show that Affleck has made progress though the filming of BATMAN VS SUPERMAN is still 3 months away and will last through February 2014 to August 2014.

Another interesting tidbit is that Affleck will likely not be training with Gym Jones. It shows that even hired just as an actor, Affleck has some level of independence due to his A-list Oscar winning status in Hollywood because the other actors that worked with Snyder did not to pick their own trainers and have traditionally worked with Gym Jones and Mark Twight (300, MAN OF STEEL, the upcoming 300: RISE OF AN EMPIRE). Gym Jones have done a truly exemplary incomparable job in transforming the actors for Snyder's films but his current trainer, Rehan Jalali, also got Affleck into the best shape of his life for THE TOWN.

Ben Affleck in THE TOWN

Rehan Jalali tweets that they can cut a little later but we want our Batman to be a big dude, specially in comparison to Henry Cavill who brought about a staggering physical transformation for MAN OF STEEL and gave us the most physically superior Superman yet. Zack Snyder will have the same effect on Batman and we might be set for the most physically accurate portrayal of Batman yet in BATMAN VS SUPERMAN, something that we never got with Christian Bale's version in the Nolan films.

Rehan Jalali is a natural body-builder himself and has been training Affleck since very long. He has also trained legends like Sylvester Stallone and is a widely published writer on the subjects of training and nutrition. He has been dropping hints on his Twitter that Affleck's training might be going on pretty well.

Could get bigger IMO,some slight moobage going on,doesn't look as superheroesque size and proportion wise as Henry Cavill, still plenty of time left though*.

Yeah, he was in perfect shape for "The Town." I think that should be the ideal size for the role. Don't think he should be bigger than Supes.

Every iteration of Bruce Wayne that is considered his definitive look is where he is a big dude. Really imposing towards everyone he comes in contact with. Cartoons, Comics, even Hush, he's pretty thick. That being said, this Rehan dude, seems to be more into the eastern styled lean body with muscle. And that's not Batman. Batman must be thick. Lean isn't gonna match up to Cavill. Bulkyness will. Big arms, huge chest, fat back, that will be Batman. wish Jones was training him instead.

He's naturally big like the costume designer says. She he is already big and looks big in the picture above. Plus Cavill was only 190 in MOS. Affleck I think will atleast be 210-220 given his height.

Exactly. Greg Capullo stated that when he draws Batman, he always envisions him to be a slab of meat. A monolithic, solid object. Batman from The Dark Knight Returns is how batman should be.

I like his height but he is still a pencil neck dweeb. These Hollywood guys who beef up tend to forget their necks but Afflect is one of the worst offenders. The problem is exacerbated by his cartoonish size head.

I think because of this role in Gone Girl he is now doing, his workouts are pretty limited. Once the shooting for that is done, he will really go at it.

@KingLeonidas Height has nothing to do with it. Pinky was taller than the Brain but Brain was a thick mofo, he could always take Pinky.

I rather have a short, thick Batman rather than a tall towering one. In his first few years, Bats is reaalllly prominent on "sticking to the shadows" but as he grows older, buffer and bulkier, he says [frick] all and becomes a linebacker. He brawls. Uses his weight and size to his advantage. This Batman is at the brawling age. He's presumably the same age as Bruce Wayne in Batman: Hush. At the middle of his career.

Ben Affleck needs to be huge. In weight and size. Specifically his chest, arms and traps.

Funny thing is, he has the ideal appearance of Batman, and would be the first actor to actually look like him, so if anyone actually knew that, they would shut the hell up.

And after seeing those lame titles for MOS 2, just go with "Batman vs. Superman."
