Lately, writer/director Kevin Smith seems to be the go-to guy when it comes to anything DC Films related. Recently, while at the Sundance Film Festival promoting his new film Yoga Hosers, Kevin Smith spoke to Variety about his old pal Ben Affleck becoming the new Batman for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice“Right away, he’s the best looking Batman we’ve ever seen,” said Smith. "He's moving the way the character moves in the comics, punching out six people in the span of two seconds. So, [Zack Snyder] is kind of nailing that version of it." Smith then goes on to explain how the most difficult thing that comes with playing Batman isn't donning the cowl and the cape. “The hardest thing to nail about Batman is Bruce Wayne, because that’s where you’ve got no mask and you’ve got to be a human being,” said the director. “But that dude is Bruce Wayne, so he’s born to play that role. Everything I've seen so far has been phenomenal. I think he'll be our best Batman."

The director then went on to tell an interesting story about the last time Ben Affleck decided to be a superhero in the Marvel film Daredevil. "I remember when he got the Daredevil role he was like, 'Matt passed on Daredevil so they offered me Daredevil. What should I do?'" said Smith when recalling the moment with Affleck. As much as Affleck wanted to be Batman, Smith was on board with Affleck becoming Daredevil; sure that Batman wouldn't be remade. Smith went ahead and said that he should do it because with the way Schumacher left Batman, there wouldn't be a remake anytime soon. Smith also revealed that Affleck asked him to talk him out of any other costumed role in the future should he be offered one again. Luckily, the director didn't feel the need to call when Affleck was casted as Batman saying, "Now it looks like he is the best Batman we’ve seen so far."
