RUMOR: Some Massive Possible MAN OF STEEL 2 SPOILERS

RUMOR: Some Massive Possible MAN OF STEEL 2 SPOILERS

One of the Latino Review lads has come across some possible spoilers for Zack Snyder's Man Of Steel sequel on a gaming message board. The guy claims his source was someone who was fired from the art department. Even by our usual rumor standards, I'd take this with a LOT of salt.

You know we're not above an occasional rumor piece here on CBM, but we usually draw the line at completely unsubstantiated message board posts. Still, these "spoilers" actually sound like they could fit in pretty comfortably with the world Snyder and co. created with Man Of Steel, so because of that and a bit of additional info provided by Latino review we've decided to post 'em for you guys to speculate upon at your leisure. The original poster reckons his source is "someone from the art department that supposedly got shitcanned (apparently a bunch of them were fired). I confirm nothing. Just passing along what I heard. Take it with the proper amount of salt.” And I would take that advice! Anyway, regarde:

- The villains are Lex Luthor and Metallo

- Batman forms a UN type deal to stop Superman from destroying another city

- Aquaman is in it, but not called Aquaman. He’s there because the world engine in the ocean did something to the fish

- Wonderwoman poses as a Wayne Enterprises investor to retrieve an item that belongs to her people.

- Lex Luthor is in the shadows a lot, a manipulator. Not much face time with Superman.

- Robin betrayed Batman at some point, leading to a falling out between them

- The Batcave was super cool looking, and the mobile looked similar to Burton’s

- Lois is investigating Lex.

- Metallo “kills” Clark

- The Daily Planet is bought by Lex Luthor for PR purposes

- At the end Superman is living in exile, and the Justice League is an government approved superhero team.

Now remember, even IF there is or was any truth to this, it's possible that it's all coming from the original version of the script before Chris Terrio's rewrites. Also, LR's Da7e has done some digging and although he can find no evidence of anyone being "shitcanned", he has discovered that some union contractors have "moved on" from the project now that the movie's release has been pushed back to 2016. That's nothing out of the ordinary, but I suppose it could lend some credence to the above information. Still, I wouldn't put too much stock in this until we have something more substantial to support it..but one way or the other, what do you guys make of it all?

I don't get the "UN type deal" though... A deal with who? Batman wouldn't work with government. I smell bullshit right there. Some of the other stuff sounds cool but ummmm Mamoa as Aquaman? Really?

Things that shouldn't happen:

- Aquaman is in it, but not called Aquaman.

- Wonderwoman poses as a Wayne Enterprises investor to retrieve an item that belongs to her people.

- Lex Luthor is in the shadows a lot, a manipulator. Not much face time with Superman.

- Metallo “kills” Clark

- At the end Superman is living in exile

So by the line: - Metallo “kills” Clark

I'm guessing that he kills Clark Kent but not Superman? Clark must have faked his death?

I could see some of this perhaps. Having Superman be exiled at the end of MOS2 and having the JL being a government program. Only in JL they ditch government protocol and bring in Superman to stop a bigger threat.

IDK though about Metallo. Superman is usually as weak as a kitten around him because of the kryptonite, so I would kind of like a more physical villain. Maybe they can make him imposing in some way.

I'm wondering what mad Bats and Robin mad though? And which Robin is this? I'm guessing either Dick or Jason. Sad that Tim and Damian probably will never get to be in live action. Crossed fingers though.

I also had a thought of who would be a perfect Batman after Affleck is finished.

Michael Fassbender! After 3 to 6 movies with Affleck, Fassbender make a good actor to take over the franchise from Affleck.

I have never read in all my time of reading comics of Batman working with the goverment. And I like everything thus far but the whole Metallo killing Clark and Superman in exile I just don't like.

Maybe this is a list of reasons why the movie was delayed

A fallout between Batman and Robin is probably the most interesting part to me. I like the idea of the sidekick angle already being history. Easier to make Robin cool if he's already established and more his own man, maybe transitioning to Nightwing over the course of these movies. I don't like batman or the justice league answerable to the US.

"Batman forms a UN type deal to stop Superman from destroying another city."

It makes no sense. At all. Actually, it sounds like some fan-fiction storylines that I've read, so I hope it's false and not WB bowing to fans.

Although a lot of fans are upset with the destruction in Man of Steel, from a STORY POINT OF VIEW, it's absolutely ridiculous to have people in that universe blaming Superman for the destruction in Metropolis. WE can argue whether or not he was responsible because WE were watching a movie, because WE know the character as a character, because WE were seeing the fight in details. For the people in that universe, all they know is:

1) Zod showed up saying that he was going to attack Earth with an alien terraforming machine if that Kal-El dude didn't surrender.

2) The Kal-El dude surrendered.

3) Zod was lying and attacked Earth anyway.

4) Kal-El dude stopped the terraforming machine and sent the kryptonians back to whatever they came from with a little help from his military friends.

5) Zod was still alive and threatening Earth. Kal-El dude killed him.

It's ridiculous to assume that humans are thinking "Oh, Superman destroyed the city".

The true and COHERENT premise should be: "Ok, the guy fought by our side, but does it mean we should trust him? We know what he can do, we've seen his powers in Smallville and Metropolis, is it cool to let this dude fly around without someone to control him? What if he turns against us?"

Now, if that's the reason why Batman forms this "UN type deal"(?), then I'm cool with it. But if they come with the "preventing Superman from destroying another city" BS just to please angry fanboys, so [frick] off WB.

The rest of the ideas are interesting, although I really don't believe this rumor. Let's see what happens.

"Aquaman is in it, but not called Aquaman"

What is exactly wrong with that? It's not his film, he will be used for a plot-device. His "name" not being mentioned won't make or break this film.
McNyagano
McNyagano - 1/21/2014, 1:15 PM

"It's ridiculous to assume that humans are thinking "Oh, Superman destroyed the city"."

It isn't. Nobody other than the military and a few people know about Kal-El destroying the World Engine and whatnot. The people wouldn't trust him because he's a scapegoat, he's the reason why Metropolis is in ruins. He may not have directly caused the death and destruction but he's just as responsible.

Also, isn't the script being rewritten by Chris Terrio? The guy who wrote Argo! This is in great hands
TonyChu

Also I hope that last bit about the Justice Leauge being UN approved is bogus because they have always been their own separate entity from the government. That's why in the New 52, Amanda Waller created Justice Leauge of America.

Alos yes, Goyer's name is never mention but isn't he the the writer along with Snyder? Some of the stuff there sounds like something Goyer would write. Thank [frick] Chris Terrio is re-writing, if this is true then I guess we know why the film was delayed. Either way, I still think it's b.s. We'll see.

IF this is true...why wouldn't Wonder Woman just break in and take the item that belongs to them? I don't mind the Aquaman part, I don't care if he isn't called Aquaman. I just hope he isn't a whiny bitch like "what happened to my fish?!".

As for the end of the it, that sounds like more of a conclusion to a trilogy than to something bigger.

Will Martha Kent see Clark in Italy with Lois Lane?

Only one or two sound a bit controversial.

SO would it be feasible to think that Aquaman introduces himself as Arthur or King of Atlantis. I've read versions of comics where he HATES the name Aquaman based on the fact that to him it sounded too close to an "earth" based creation and we all know how much he hates the land dwellers.
Just a thought...

BTW I didn't read anything about Man of Steel until three days prior to its release. It had already been released in big cities and there was one article I read that never mentioned "spoilers" that PRETTY much gave away the movie. I waited until it came out on DVD because based on what I read I thought I would hate it...I LOVED THE MOVIE. I say that because THIS movie I will probably see live action and don't plan on basing my opinion on one or two opinions.
