New DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn has been highly critical of today's superhero movies, suggesting his plan is to tell a wider array of stories in the new DCU.
We don't currently know how much the projects which have already been announced are going to differ, but the moderators at r/DCEULeaks claimed to have learned about another "Chapter 2" movie: The Huntress.
We last saw that character in action in Harley Quinn: Birds of Prey, but this version won't be played by Mary Elizabeth Winstead. Instead, the movie is supposedly going to be a foreign-language film that plays out entirely in Korean.
That likely means The Huntress will be a story told in the same vein as Train to Busan and The Villainess, a bold move by DC Studios which may or may not pay off. After all, a movie such as this is unlikely to be a huge box office hit, so keeping the budget under control will be imperative for it to find success.
Whether audiences want superhero movies that break the mould of what Marvel Studios has found so much success with is also hard to say.
Still, it appears DC Studios is looking to keep things authentic by casting a Korean lead and tapping Korean directors to helm the project. Huntress is definitely a character who lends herself to an adventure such as this, and we're predicting a bold reimagining compared to Birds of Prey.
However, with Gunn planning on keeping Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, casting a new Huntress only serves to muddy the waters when it comes to exactly how much of a reboot the DCU really is.
This movie isn't confirmed as of yet, and we're guessing any "Chapter 2" announcements won't be made for a while yet. As always, we'll keep you updated as we learn more.
