Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has taken to Instagram to share another exciting glimpse of his title character in Black Adam, while also revealing one of the massive sets that have been constructed.
Interestingly, he pointed out that "We’re hitting our midway point stride," so chances are that when production does wrap, we'll get some sort of first look. Failing that, you have to imagine the movie will be highlighted during this October's second DC FanDome event (fingers crossed for a teaser trailer).
Johnson captioned the first image by saying, "[I] wanted to give you guys a little [Black Adam] update and share this image with you from set. Production is coming along GREAT and I’m very pleased with the movie we’re making. Black Adam’s mythology, ethics and actions no doubt will create a new paradigm in the world of superheroes, villains & antiheroes."
"If you know the comic book mythology, then you know where his pain comes from," the actor added. "His rage. His wife and children killed. His people brutally enslaved. He is not a superhero, but rather a champion. Champion of the poor and beaten down. Champion of the people. And he is the most unstoppable force in the DC UNIVERSE."
It feels like we're in store for something really special with Black Adam. Comic book fans have been hoping for years that Johnson would suit up as a superhero (or supervillain), and this character - who lies somewhere in the middie - is one he clearly has a great understanding of.
Black Adam is set to be released in theaters on July 29, 2022.
