BLACK ADAM Producer On Henry Cavill's Superman Return And Long-Term Plans For The Man Of Steel

At this point, the cat is well and truly out of the bag when it comes to Henry Cavill reprising the role of Superman, and Black Adam producer Hiram Garcia has now discussed long-term plans for the hero.

Rumors have been swirling about Henry Cavill potentially returning as Superman for quite a while, and we recently got confirmation that the Man of Steel will have a presence in the upcoming Black Adam movie.

While these sort of big reveals are usually kept under wraps for as long as possible, star Dwayne Johnson has wisely capitalized on the news leaking beforehand, and is now using it to hype the film on the press circuit.

Even so, if you'd rather not know the details of Cavill's involvement, beware of major Black Adam spoilers from this point on.

Supes shows up in the movie's post-credits scene, paying a visit to the Man in Black at the behest of Amanda Waller. The Big Blue Boy-scout tells Adam that it's been "a while since anyone's made the world so nervous," and that they "need to talk."

This is clearly setting up what promises to be an epic battle between these two mega-powerful characters, but it sounds like there are much bigger long-term plans in place.

"It's never been about a one off or just about a fight," producer Hiram Garcia explains to CinemaBlend. "No, it's about so much more than that. We really want to craft a long-form of storytelling and show that these two characters exist in the same universe and are going to have to deal with each other often, either on the same or opposite sides. Hopefully they're going to clash at some point, but it's not just about a ‘one fight’ situation. That was never our dream. That does not reward the fans. Fans want to feel a journey between these guys knowing that these guys exist in the same universe."

We recently learned that Warner Bros. Discovery is tentatively planning at least one more solo Superman movie starring Cavill, but it doesn't sound like anything is set in stone just yet. At any rate, setting-up Black Adam vs. Superman as one of the building blocks of the "new DCEU" is certainly not a bad place to start.

Reviews for Black Adam have been mixed, but the movie is still expected to have a pretty good opening weekend at the worldwide box office. Do you guys plan to catch it in theaters when it opens this Friday?

MoS 2 first, Shazam cross over next, then Black Adam 2. Don't put Supes in another VS movie yet, let's serve his character development first. 🤞🏽

@UniqNo - Which is exactly what Shazam is getting: character development.

@Battabingg - Yeah, though i can understand Shazam is probably an easier character to write with the comedic family and kids dynamic, but they've given that character room to grow. Hopefully they give Cavill some good writing. If he fumbles it the second time then i'll accept he's a bit to wooden... not yet though.

And both transformers movies made billion back to back there score is under 50 people like captain marvel so well she made billion movies can go either way , horror movies almost known how they will do they never have been big success who takes horror movies and giant monster mayhem seriously not fans of those types same with transformers.,

Lmao they have zero plans for Superman. Only goal is to fake hype it up hoping to sell a few more BA tickets.

It's so obvious!😂😂😂

I don't have much interest watching Superman and Black Adam's Hell in a Cell, but i do want my f*cking Superman Trilogy with Cavill... :3

@Doomsday8888 - I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that if Black Adam bombs, Cavill is done. They will recast Superman, and I'm good with that. He just doesn't have the chops for the role. He certainly hasn't been as good a Superman as Tyler Hoechlin has been.

They better leave Superman Alone. Black Adam is heavily influenced by Snyder's vision and style. As long as the shared DCU is chained to the snyderverse, failure is a certainty. The hierarchy of the DCU remains unchanged - and it still makes absolutely no sense.

Everyone's clawing for the top spot. This guy and The Rock, De Luca, JJ Abrams, Matt Reeves, Todd Phillips, James Gunn... Everyone's making plans for the future of DC (of their own little DC Universes).

No leader. Walt's out, Zaslav's looking in all the wrong places for a DC Studio head.
De Luca's supposed to be keeping an eye on things, but he's just as bad.

It's like a [frick]ing free-for-all out there! It's chaos!!

This is a taste of what the future will be like when all DC's properties are public domain.

Hey its Batman Vs Superman 2. Is Black Adams Dad name Jonathan? Will Emo Luther come back? Now that there are two "All powerful" heroes?

It’s a few seconds cameo in a post credit scene. The fact they’re always talking about a few seconds of screen time of a character who’s movies underperformed at the BO and became a laughing meme shows the confidence they have in Black Adam…
RedFury
RedFury - 10/19/2022, 9:25 AM
@Moriakum - honestly I wouldn't blame the people involved with the movie for that too much. It's the media outlets that keep jumping on the same story and asking the same questions. I'm sure in the interviews these guys are talking about much more than just the superman cameo, but that's the most bait bit of information to get people's clicks, so it's what we keep seeing.

That's my guess anyways.

If they make MoS 2, hope they ignore BvS and JL.

Why is there a contentious relationship between Superman and Captain Marvel's arch nemesis? WTF is going on? Are they gonna give Brainiac and Metallo and Bizarro to the Shazam guys?

I kinda think this is why Hamada's role was so important. He kinda kept this shit in check, and THR even says he was against one actor running rough shod over everythign. But when these big celebrities go around his back to the higher ups, he's pretty much powerless. It's no wonder he wants out. It's also no surprise that nobody wants his job.

People need to stay in their [frick]ing lanes.

If anything people want to see Black Adam go against Shazam and Superman get a sequel against Brainiac and with Supergirl involved.
GeneralZod
GeneralZod - 10/19/2022, 3:13 PM
@BritishMonkey - Yeah, but after the horseshit that DC/WB has fed us for the last, what is it, 9 years since Superman fought the last really good villain -- me -- in Man of Steel? I'm perfectly good with Black Adam teeing up against Superman.

I'm hyped! and the fact he got Superman back is commendable and the Rock now has my respect plus the action looks badass. Can't wait to finally see Hawkman and Dr. Fate on the big screen
