Black Adam is now playing in theaters, and while critics clearly didn't love this first chapter in the DCEU's "new era" - it has a 41% score on Rotten Tomatoes - fans and moviegoers are now being given the chance to weigh in.
As you can see below, the DC Comics adaptation has earned a B+ CinemaScore. Plus, with an 89% Audience Score on the aforementioned review aggregator, fans clearly liked the movie more than critics. However, a B+ puts Black Adam in some very interesting company.
Justice League, Suicide Squad, and Wonder Woman 1984 were all given B+ scores and all derided by critics. However, the likes of Harley Quinn: Birds of Prey, The Suicide Squad, and Joker were given the same mark, but received positive reviews.
On the Marvel side, Black Adam sits alongside Venom, Thor, and Spider-Man 3.
Ultimately, the big test will be next weekend. It's then we'll see what sort of impact word of mouth is having. Remember, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice broke records in 2016, only to suffer a record drop the following week when it became clear audiences didn't like what Zack Snyder had come up with.
"Come for The Rock’s pitch-perfect take on Black Adam and stay for an unmissable post-credits scene," we said in our review of the movie. "Then, just try to forget everything else, because this brainless, brawny superhero movie is not the fresh start the DCEU desperately needs."
Dwayne Johnson continues to tout Black Adam as a "new era" for the DCEU, though whether this is the fresh start Warner Bros. Discovery wanted for its troubled comic book franchise is hard to say.
What score would you give Black Adam?
