BLACK PANTHER Director Ryan Coogler Weighs In On Trolls Attempting To Sabotage Rotten Tomatoes Score

We recently learned that a group of nutty comic book "fans" are hoping to tank Black Panther's Audience Score on Rotten Tomatoes. How does director Ryan Coogler feel about that? Find out after the jump.

There may be a group of incensed DC fans out there plotting the downfall of Black Panther's Audience Score on Rotten Tomatoes (because that's really going to make a difference at the box office) but that hasn't phased director Ryan Coogler! Recently, the filmmaker was quizzed on how he feels about the now removed Facebook page "Down with Disney's Treatment of Franchises and Its Fanboys."

"For me, I'm looking forward to everybody seeing the film," the director diplomatically responded. "I'm really looking forward to sharing the film with audiences regardless of what their political views are...that's kind of where I [stand on that]." As for how important a score like that is, Coogler was quick to point out that a percentage is never going to tell the full story when it comes to quality.

"It can be an oversimplification of what critics are saying about a movie," he added "It's quicker to look at the consensus
than it is to read the articles. But I'm a person who definitely respects film criticism and draws on it in the filmmaking process." Despite this attempt by trolls to hurt Black Panther, early reactions have been overwhelmingly positive and it looks set to be a huge box office hit.

What do you think about Coogler's comments? As always, be sure to let us know your thoughts below.

This guy is an incredible director and a good man. BP is going to be groundbreaking and incredible, can't wait to see it + w/e else he hopefully does in the MCU.

Also, I know everyone talks about Creed for his past projects, rightfully so, but do not sleep on his film Fruitvale Station. It is an incredible indie film he did with Michael B. Jordan, and shows how talented he is.

@Menks123 - and I'm so glad Kevin Feige saw that potential in him. I think Feige was quoted as saying that it doesn't matter if someone goes from indie films to making blockbusters because what he cares about is good storytelling, bottom line. And I congratulate him for allowing Ryan the freedom to have his own vision for the movie. Ryan also acknowledges that Marvel and Disney execs were very supportive and encouraging of his vision, choice in actors, and even the music used in the film.

@DVonShakari - Exactly, the freedom that is given is so vast...it's awesome. You can see it again too with the new Captain Marvel directors as well.

Hell, even fricking Taika Waititi with Thor. Love him as a director, but was like...him and Thor is strange, then he just blew me away. The trust levels of Feige is through the roof.
