BLACK PANTHER: WAKANDA FOREVER Resurfaced Set Photos Point To VERY Different Role For Everett Ross

Some resurfaced photos from the set of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever have left fans questioning what Marvel Studios originally had planned for Martin Freeman's Everett Ross in the sequel. Check it out...

Production on Black Panther: Wakanda Forever was a little chaotic, with the pandemic and a nasty injury sustained by star Letitia Wright causing a number of delays. The sequel eventually finished shooting, though, and arrived in theaters last November to positive reviews and a big opening weekend.

Like every other MCU movie, the sequel underwent reshoots. As of right now, we aren't sure how much those changed the Black Panther follow-up, but additional photography has become a normal part of Marvel Studios' approach to storytelling.

With so much chatter surrounding Black Panther: Wakanda Forever's impending Disney+ debut, some set photos from the movie have resurfaced showing Martin Freeman on set as Everett Ross. However, the British actor looks vastly different to the Ross we followed in the sequel's worst subplot.

We've looked at Freeman's recent and upcoming projects, and he doesn't look like this in any of them. Considering the fact he was photographed on set in August 2021, it's highly unlikely he was working on Secret Invasion as that was shot primarily in London in 2022.

With that in mind, we're going to go ahead and assume Ross' story arc - which mostly focused on the fact he used to be married to Valentina Allegra de Fontaine - was entirely the result of reshoots.

We can't think of any other explanation for why his beard vanished, and prior to shooting, Freeman teased a very unexpected role for Ross in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Explaining that director Ryan Coogler had taken him through his character's part in the script, he admitted that "some of it was very odd," and there was nothing in the sequel we'd say fit that description.

Here's hoping we learn more about original plans for Ross in the not-too-distant future!

I feel like that’s not even for Wakanda Forever. But hey, people wouldn’t lie about this kind of stuff just for clicks. Right?

Random thought but I thought the key thing that would be tying all the phase 4 fil s 5pgether, would be various hints and reveals of Skrulls infiltrating the government, heroes, etc

I'm surprised with secret invasion on the horizon, they haven't touched on it. Unless it's been right in front of us all along (Valentina, Sharon, Cassie, etc) and they're saving the REVEALS for secret invasion

@Vigor - SI would’ve probably been the avengers movie if that was the plan.

@ShimmyShimmyYA - yeah good point. They wouldn't have all that buildup for just a tv show

@Vigor - yeah same. Although I wouldn't be surprised if Valentina was a Skrull and assembling super powered people to collect data on them.

Everett Ross is such a pointless and unnecessary character anyway and only exists because Christopher Priest thought white people wouldn't read his Black Panther comic unless he included a white character to act as the narrator.

"Comics are traditionally created by white males for white males. I figured, and I believe rightly, that for Black Panther to succeed, it needed a white male at the center, and that white male had to give voice to the audience's misgivings or apprehensions or assumptions about this character and this book. Ross needed to be un-PC to the point of being borderline racist"

Bear in mind Spawn's initial issue sold 1.7 million copies 6 years prior to his BP run, and was still selling strongly by 1998.

@soberchimera - I still have 3 pristine packs with issues 1-3 that came with the spawn car. No black ink misprints for the first issue though. Someday lol

Everytime we cut to Virginia I rolled my eyes, harder than the rest of the time too!

Whenever Elaine shows up as Valentine De Folonatae De alegra or whatever absurd name she has, I can't take any of it serious lol

Turns out the phase four's missing ingredient is Freeman's beard.

this is why MCU never got me. It feels so prefabricated and data driven. The stories have no real passion and creativity of a group of writers. The final scene in SHE HULK is not a joke, is the real thing
