Black Widow has now crossed the $100 million mark at the domestic box office, and after taking just six days to do so, it's broken another record in the "pandemic era" of box office hauls.
In comparison, F9: The Fast Saga took eight days, while A Quiet Place Part 2 achieved this feat in fifteen. Godzilla vs. Kong, which opened when things were quite a bit worse, took twelve weekends to manage it (which just goes to show how much things have changed in recent months).
Black Widow scored another $5.5 million yesterday, taking its total haul to $100.7 million.
Disney has already revealed that Black Widow grossed $60 million globally on Disney+'s Premier Access service during its opening weekend, but it's unclear how much more has been added since then. As with most Digital releases, it's hard to imagine piracy hasn't been an issue, as the Marvel Studios title was available on torrent websites mere minutes after being released on Friday.
Hopefully, that didn't have too much of a negative impact because piracy only hurts the future of franchises like the MCU, not to mention the moviegoing experience as a whole.
"Black Widow is Bourne meets Bond meets Terminator...with two outstanding, badass female leads," we said in our review of the movie. "Action-packed, funny, and at times surprisingly gut-wrenching, Cate Shortland's vision for the MCU is bold, empowering, and utterly unmissable."
Did you guys watch Black Widow in theaters or was Disney+ your preferred option?
