Scarlett Johansson Reveals What Exactly She Wants From A BLACK WIDOW Movie

We know that a Black Widow movie is in the very early stages of development and Scarlett Johansson now weighs in on what she hopes to see from that and whether or not she's actually interested in it...

Fans have been demanding a Black Widow movie for what feels like forever but recent events have pointed to it finally happening at some point in the next few years. That presumably means we can expect Scarlett Johansson's former S.H.I.E.L.D. agent to survive the events of Avengers: Infinity War and in a recent interview with ET, the actress shares some insight into what she expects from a solo outing.

"I think that there is a...(laughs) it's such a loaded question," Johansson replied when asked if she's interested. "Yes, I would want to in the right context and for the film to fit where I'm at, where I am in my life. I mean I've played this character for a long time. It's been probably like 8 years or more, and so much has happened in my life, my life as a performer and happened in my life personally."

"I love playing this character, and I think there is definitely an opportunity to explore the Widow as a woman who has kind of come into her own and is making independent and active choices for herself probably for once in her life," she added in regards to what she'd like the movie to deliver. "You know she hasn't always had that possibility so if it fit that criteria then yes I would want to do it."

Johansson clearly doesn't want a Black Widow movie to be another team-up then and instead wants the character to be able to do her own thing. What form would you like to see a solo adventure for the hero take? As always, be sure to let us know your thoughts on that in the comments section below.

@Krav - Wonder is they're planning anything with the Mask.

@Kevwebsz - I have been wanting a reboot ever since the abomination that was Son of the Mask. They should pick up where the comics did, introduce Walter. So much potential...

@Saintsinnister - I wonder what would happen if they made a reboot in todays world that was more faithful. It's hard to wrap my head around the idea of a man thats basically a living breathing killer cartoon lol

@Kevwebsz - I would be down for a reboot. Today's technology would make it work better. But I will always like Jim Carey's version more than the comics Stanley. Jim really did have the best face and attitude for the character

If Cap and Widow survive, I hope Cap leads a new generation on the spotlight and Natasha assembles a Secret Avengers team.
I was always a big fan of a double timeline movie about Budapest and the present, but kinda think she's right. Giving her the lead on a black ops Avengers roster feels like a natural progression from the role she's had since Winter Soldier.

All I want out of a Black Widow movie is Scarlett Johansson. I'll take her, you can have the movie.

Obvious storyline is her inacting revenge on the Russian organization that created her. They create a more advanced murder than she ever was, she has to track this lady down. You get the gist of it.

@Saintsinnister - that’s basically the winter soldier.

Marvel tends to give us villains that are mirrors of the hero. I’d like her villain to just be some shadowy organization, that eventually turns out to be much more dangerous than anyone expected.

@BloodyBed - Yeah Marvel is guilty of giving us evil versions of the heroes a lot. I just don't see very many other plots they might use. I personally don't care to see a solo Black Widow movie. I just know if they do, it will tie the into her origins and the organization

I know it's probably an unpopular opinion, but one: don't care to ever see a Black Widow standalone film, and two: Johansson has never convinced me in this role except for Winter Soldier.

@TheHitchhikingGhost - No, you are not alone in this opinion. I agree verbatim. Nothing we've seen thus far justifies a standalone despite the Russos getting a performance out of ScarJo in CW.

Sad that we've never really got to see the darker, duplicitous elements of the Black Widow character. Back in the DD books, there was always the prospect of 'not knowing' which side she'd take, the possibility of betrayals, manipulation. Johansson has the smarts to portray that in a smaller, more character driven film. A cynical reading: "I'm older, I'm not a gymnast."

All of that sounds perfect. She gets it. She is very protective of this character. She understands her. That’s the benefit of having an actress of her caliber in the role. This movie has to absolutely be a standalone not a team-up. Nothing more than a cameo from any other superhero. And yes this trained since childhood spy and assassin who switched that life for a life under SHIELD’s control finally being able to make all her own decisions is a powerful movie I want to see. And one where we can really see her spy skills on full display.

Remember when justice league was out, some people were complaining that this site focused too much on dc?

What [frick]ing morons.

Well, atleast put Hawkeye in it. Or other SHIELD agents. I just cannot see a full-on solo movie work
