Hello again everyone.

For my second article, I thought I would pose a question: In the film "Blade II", is the villain Jared Nomak an acceptable film-interpretation of the villain Morbius the Living Vampire?

I ask this because I recently viewed the whole "Blade Trilogy" for the first time, and upon finding out that Morbius was intended to be the main villain of "Blade II", I wondered if Jared Nomak could be considered an adaptation of the character?

I know the "Blade Trilogy" is now a part of comic-book movie history, and therefore isn't a "hot" topic anymore, but I don't think this means people can't still talk about it.

So, let me know what you think below :)

@dellamorte1872,

Thanks for the comments man. I was actually surprised to find some images from the comics that actually matched, considering I thought I was reaching with this theory. And I over-looked the blood-sucking arms similarity. Thanks for pointing it out. :)

@dellamorte1872,

While not exactly the same, the whole "engineered" vampire aspect is there. ;)

I don't think so. Like you mentioned in your article, Morbius was actually going to be the villain in Blade 2, but they decided not to go with him.

That leads me to believe that their ideas for Morbius were a lot different than what we got with Jared Nomak.

Like my buddy Morte said, the whole engineered, "living vampire" thing was there, but nothing else really reminded me of Morbius. I loved Blade 2 though, it was a great movie.

It kinda sucks though, because that was probably the best chance we had to see Morbius on the big screen. A great character like that deserves some love.

@johnblake,

Oh, I know he's not. Not officially anyway. ;)

I knew about the ending, but thanks for the link anyway. :)

The way I see it, they used him without really using him, if that makes any sense.

The fact that I found images of Morbius that recalled Nomak (that is, if they were made after "Blade II") is intriguing and very cool at the same time.

@CorndogBurglar,

I think the fact that there are some similarities between the two characters, however vague or minor, at least gives the theory some credence. They couldn't outright call him Morbius, or use elements of his origin that were blatantly obvious, mostly due to rights issues.

I too loved "Blade II". I think it was the best of the three by far. And to further stress my point (;)), look how they interpreted Dracula in "Blade Trinity". Very little similarities to the original comic version, despite some recognizable traits of the overall "Dracula" character, mostly in the ancient warrior area.

All I'm saying is that I'm fine with Nomak being the movie "Morbius". ;)

@JokerFanHAhaHA,

Loki is also not a lion, and Scar is not the God of Mischief.

But thanks for commenting. ;)
