CAPTAIN AMERICA: NEW WORLD ORDER Details Include Intel On Plans For Harrison Ford's General "Thunderbolt" Ross

Star Wars and Indiana Jones legend Harrison Ford is set to play General "Thunderbolt" Ross in Captain America: New World Order, and we now have some exciting details about what to expect from the villain.

Captain America: New World Order is shaping up to be an even bigger movie than initially expected, with Tim Blake Nelson set to make his return as The Leader and Harrison Ford recently tapped to play General "Thunderbolt" Ross. There had been speculation the character might be retired following William Hurt's death, but he's clearly key to Marvel Studios' plans.

Enlisting a legend like Ford is proof of that, and we'd bet on Ross being important for both the upcoming Thunderbolts movie and what looks likely to be a World War Hulks project of some sort.

Before we get to that, however, we have the next Captain America movie to look forward to. Anthony Mackie's Sam Wilson will step up as the latest hero to wield the shield, and according to The Cosmic Circus, the 2024 release will have a "HUGE budget."

It's said Ross is no longer serving as Secretary of State. Instead, he's just a private citizen these days with powerful connections in places that matter and potentially has plans for his own "new world order." Could that involve a team-up with Samuel Sterns that eventually sees him become Red Hulk?

We'd be shocked if it doesn't happen, and even more surprised if Ford isn't given the chance to "Hulk Out."

Cameras are expected to begin rolling in March, anyway, but there's another very interesting tidbit that makes Captain America: New World Order even more intriguing.

"I had heard previously that there may be some kind of crossover with Blade and New World Order," the piece's author notes. "But unfortunately, Blade is currently not expected to start until next summer...considering the Blade film is going through some major rewrites, this crossover plan certainly could have changed."

Could vampires somehow factor into The Leader's plan? Between that and the importance of She-Hulk's blood in her recent series, we can't help but wonder if Sterns is looking to finally crack the code and make perfect Super Soldiers (or Hulks!) with Ross.

Written by Malcolm Spellman and Dalan Musson, and directed by Julius Onah, Captain America: New World Order is set to be released on May 3, 2024.

Captain America: New World Order has got me excited.

@DoubleD - I'm so pumped that Lumbly is on board, and I also love that they're finally paying off some of those Incredible Hulk set ups. I wonder if they will Red Hulk him in CA:NWO or wait until Thunderbolts?

I think a lot of people are setting their hopes wayyy to high regarding Ross/Red Hulk. I'd wager a bet that these two movies will be General Ross' swan song and he only appears as Red Hulk in Thunderbolts, before ultimately dying. It would make the most sense given Ford's age and he doesn't seem like someone who is going to sign a 5 picture deal (frankly I'm shocked that he signed on for at least 2).

Anyways, this movie seems like it's going to be a real mishmash of characters and plots, I reeeeeeeaaaaaally hope they can do it justice - Anthony Mackie deserves it.

@Humby - Marvel Making a Hulk Family Movie taking place in New World Order movie :)

In the meantime we exclusively reported just a couple of weeks ago that Liv Tyler is in talks with Marvel to reprise her role as Betty Ross in the upcoming Captain America: New World Order. Along with being Bruce Banner’s love interest in his solo film, in the comics Ross has had a number of her own gamma-powered aliases including the Harpy, Red She-Hulk, and Red Harpy. Whether she’ll be appearing as one of these super-powered characters or not, there has been no word.

Hey, the previous actor in the role passed away... who should we get to replace him?

Oh I know: An even older guy who is clearly fed up with billion dollar franchises!

Genius! Quick, somebody call Grumpy Old Gramps Harrison Ford!!

-Someone at Marvel, probably

Suffice to say: I'm very unsure about this one.

You gotta stop bringing up She-Hulk’s blood. It was a complete red herring for a terrible tv series. It will have no impact on the rest of the MCU.

@tvor03 - I think that very much remains to be seen.

@tvor03 - but it wasn't a red herring. The whole plan was to make a hulk serum with her blood, and it worked. She hulk solving it with a bs rewrite doesn't change that they objectively made a hulk serum. And that possibility remains regardless.

The main issue is how op she is now, being able to change anything about the stories she's in whenever she doesn't like the direction.

@tvor03 - I did like the show but I didn't like the finale. Not sure how early on they decided to bring Tim back as the The Leader but they should have had a subtle voice over or his shadow with him out of picture shot of him receiving the blood after Jen undid her shows ending. My biggest dislike of the ending is that by doing what she did she made the blood plot point of the show mean nothing.

This movie will be the best in phase 5, and I can't wait until phase 4 ends. Enough dart throwing ffs

A CA movie without steve rogers is like a BP movie without T'Challa. No thanks.

@Reginator - A CA Movie without Steve and a BP movie without TChalla would be like the comic books where Steve wasn't Cap and T'Challa wasn't Black Panther

@newhire13 - Which is funny because in the comics, they were both mantles that were past on to Falcon and Shuri respectively.

If Blade is out and they want to use someone else... Daredevil!

Put him in everything!!!

@ObserverIO - I second this. First 18 episodes of Daredevil and then a movie with him in may. 2024 is gonna be great
ObserverIO
ObserverIO - 10/19/2022, 7:51 AM
@bkmeijer1 - And there's an in with She-Hulk. If the rumors about her being in NWO are true, DD can be her plus-one.
bkmeijer1
bkmeijer1 - 10/19/2022, 8:02 AM
@ObserverIO - and Hulk might even be in it too. Captain America, Hulk, She-Hulk and Daredevil? This is almost an Avengers-level movie like Civil War

bkmeijer1 - 10/19/2022, 7:43 AM
I was kinda just expecting Ross being turned into Red Hulk in Thunderbolts and his own team being tasked by Val with hunting him down and stopping him.

The reveal in NWO would be that it was Leader who made Ross a hulk after having been tasked by him with creating more super soldiers (but Leader, not Ross, using this as an opportunity to just create a New World Order with Hulks).
