CAPTAIN AMERICA Star Chris Evans Admits He Misses Playing The MCU's Star Spangled Avenger

Chris Evans' time as Captain America came to an end with 2019's Avengers: Endgame. In that movie, Steve Rogers travelled back in time and got his happy ending with Peggy Carter, returning to the present day as an old man.

Since then, it's been strongly hinted that he might have died, while the shield is now wielded by Sam Wilson. Despite that, speculation is still running rampant that Evans is set to reprise the role, most likely in Avengers: Secret Wars (which we have to believe would be his final final farewell to the hero).

After recently being named People's Sexiest Man Alive, Evans has looked back on his time playing the Star Spangled superhero, admitting he misses Cap.

"Oh my God, you’d be a real jerk to not enjoy it. You get paid to take care of yourself and be a superhero," he recalls. "This is like what you [dream of doing] as a kid. You run around your backyard and pretend to be a comic book character. It’s been one of the greatest joys of my life to kind of dive in and prepare for these movies."

"They’re challenging but the beauty is the movies are great and you get out what you put in. It’s been a wonderful very symbiotic relationship so I’ve been thrilled to do it," Evans continues. "When the movies end, you’re very happy to have a break but very quickly you miss it. I miss it now. But I’m very grateful, very happy to have been a part of them."

For whatever reason, The Falcon and The Winter Soldier deliberately played coy with Steve's final fate. However, a museum being opened in his honour and Spider-Man: No Way Home revealing that the Statue of Liberty was being overhauled in his honour strongly suggests the world believes he's dead.

The beauty of the Multiverse means that Evans can play any number of Captain America Variants, including a villainous Steve who was loyal to HYDRA in his reality. We'll see what happens on that front, though plans to introduce that controversial take on the character have been rumoured for some time now.

Would you like to see Evans reprise the role of Captain America in the MCU?

Evans was absolutely perfect as Cap and i am 1000% satisfied with how his story ended, with him being with Peggy. With that said, I miss Evans as Cap and i would ONLY want him to come back for something huge and game changing... and that would be Secret Wars. Other than that, leave him be... but i do miss Cap

Steve Rogers is dead, and Sam Wilson is Captain America.

Chris should be back in a multiverse movie as the Human Torch...just for the lols.

Invaders, WW2 set with Namor and Bucky. Maybe the original Human Torch. Just do it.

The villain could be the original Baron Zemo, tie it in to modern day. Or Strucker or someone.

old man cap could be re exposed to the radiation used in the original experiment and revert his body to its physical peak. Its a comic book movie, lot of options to bring him back.

I wish they had found a way to revert him back to Skinny Steve, even for a little bit, just to remind of us his integrity and leadership regardless of his size and strength.

The comics have never really had to deal with characters aging out because of their “floating timeline.

I believe that somewhere down the line, the multiverse will be used to bring back variant versions mixed with the members of the original team. Think current Hulk with young variant Stark and current Thor and young Hawkeye, etc.

This is a sensible, in-universe way of keeping the characters evergreen while maintaining links to the past. Newer MCU fans would be none the wiser that their current team is composed of variants.

Some might say that this would diminish the deaths of characters if they can just come back. I disagree. Thor’s Loki is still dead, and his death scene still hurts, even though we have a slightly younger variant Loki running around out there.

"It’s been a wonderful very symbiotic relationship so I’ve been thrilled to do it"

... "symbiotic"

...so that confirms we will get a return of Cap but with the Venom symbiote.
Venom cussing and Cap saying 'language'.
The ultimate Lethal Protector... Venom will be so happy.
Earth 17084 here we come...
