Well just to start i was pretty excited when the Russo brothers were confirmed for Directors, I am a huge fan of "Community", Now you're probably thinking..
"Why would that make you excited? They have only made comedies..."
But in being a fan of Community i know how well they can actually really do anything.. If you watch Community you know there's Episodes that are Zombie Episodes, Paintball Episodes, And I've always thought
"What if the Russo brothers made something serious with this same feel, can they can defiantly pull it off."
And what's funny was, they were in the mix to Direct the next Captain America!
Now skip ahead a couple months, i loved when they said that Captain America the Winter Soldier was going to be a "Political Thriller" and kind of saying it has darker tone for it, Which seems like a lot of the Phase 2 is trying to do. I wasn't very surprised, but it's not just the "Dark" feel that made me excited, Its the Political, Government, Agent, Corrupt stuff that will be involved within the film! I feel like they are making a Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk feel to it! Also considering that Senator Stern will be in the Film!
And a funny thing about my excitement for Captain America : The Winter Soldier is I'm actually the least excited about Captain America! Im more excited about what goes on in the film, And the new Cast members that were brought in, Especially Anthony Mackie!
An actor who has proven himself a great one! From the Hurt Locker with Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) the Adjustment Bureau, and other films too! I feel like picking Anthony Mackie to be apart of the cast was a great movie, and will be a great addition for the MCU! we need more actors like him involved!
FREAKING, Robert Redford as well, i mean putting him in the film is an obvious casting that tell us this film will be a "Political Thriller"!
You can tell that they are expanding more of S.H.I.E.L.D's story in this film, and in a good way too! i didn't exactly like the direction it was taking! Thank God it wasn't really taken in a exact direction yet! But the reason i am excited is because, I feel they are fitting S.H.I.E.L.D in with the rest of the Government! They are a feel-good, everyone's on the same side, We're not corrupt feel!
I feel like S.H.I.E.L.D will actually feel like an Agency instead of the only Agency like the Avengers sort of made it feel!?
CONSIDERING - All the set photos of Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) and Natasha Romanoff (Scarlett Johansson) pushing Agent Casper around, and Nick Fury (Sam L. Jackson) being attacked.
OVERALL - i think the Russo brothers were a perfect pick to direct the film giving it not only a "Dark" Feel, but governmental and spies feel! Having a Russian enemy (THE WINTER SOLDIER) And other terrorist like villains (CROSSBONES) & (BATROC THE LEAPER) and Robert Redford as a possible villain, it defiantly adds to that feel! So i can't wait for the Teaser in just 2 days now!
LAST BUT NOT LEAST - I really want to see General Ross return for one of the Phase 2 films, I feel like a small role in Captain America : TWS would work, but its a bit late for that!
