PAINTED ON WINGS ARE FINE, THE STRAPS FOR THIS MOVIE,FINE BUT WHEN WE GO AVENGERS, THEY'LL PROLLY UPDATE THE SUIT, EVERY SUPERHERO MOVIE SHOULD DO UPDATES ON SUITS EVERY MOVIE, GIVES THE MOVIE GOER SOMETHING TO ANTICIPATE...

i wish they would have used better wings for the helmet
such as the wings painted on Caps helmet in the WWII flashback in Captain America: Reborn

which can be seen here

The costume is really well done, looks practical but heroic.
I just hope Evans face looks good in the helmet in live action, he has the physique anyway.

2 be honest, i don't want painted on wings. People want the more conservative realistic feel- I want the official attached wings on the helmet!!!!!

..ugh, i pray that suit gets changed somewhat before the avenger movie, or cap's sequel.

The one on the right looks weird. I think the small wings would bring it all together... the head just looks to plain.

@Gunsmith... Lmfao

Wings or no wings, he looks pretty damn cool. Wings are a pretty stupid thing to gripe about. That's like bitching about the Hulk's lack of purple pants.
GrayFox1025
GrayFox1025 - 1/3/2011, 6:57 PM
He needs the wings on the helmet, not painted on cuz then it looks stupid, needs to be physical wings, that would look badass with this uniform

That pic looks awesome.

I don't like the new Cap we're seeing in the upper right-hand corner. He doesn't look anything like Chris Evans. In fact, he looks like a complete douche in that pose.
SuperPickle
SuperPickle - 1/3/2011, 7:19 PM
The wings look dumb. Chalk it up to the page-to-screen translation like the X-Men's yellow spandex uniforms, Batman's "armor", the lack of Robin in the new series, Spider-man's web-slingers, Wolverine's height, Jonathan Kent's death, John Constantine's nationality and the "Catholic" thing, Donald Blake and Thor, Harvey Dent's death, and really, the list could go on.

In other words...... LIVE WITH IT. The movie will be way better for it.

I agree with Intruder in his reply to manofmidgard, Cap is a military man... and the movie costume looks the part with paratrooper gear weaved into the design. What people forget is that the people working on the film are trying to put in real-world sensibility into the character and his gear. We'll probably see the "wings" on his head with his original USO getup... then probably lose it when he gets serious about busting heads in Nazi/Hydra territory. Besides, a soldier of Cap's caliber would be stupid NOT to have protection other than the damned shield he carried. A real soldier would take one look at the chainmail and wings and say he'd rather eat a live grenade than go into a warzone with so little protection and utility regardless of the fact that the only other armor would be a vibranium shield.

The wings on or off his helmet is not a major selling point for me as long the movie is good and feels right for a Captain America movie... the wings are OK, but not really that big of a deal. Cap wasn't about the costume back in the day, although it didn't hurt -- it was more about being a living, breathing symbol of American idealism in the body of an enhanced soldier that fought for the American people in a time when patriotism and honor was a real big deal.

Want wings? Go to KFC, or to any place you get them.

@manofmidgard

dude yes its set in the past...but howard stark designs his suit...so it would be more advanced....and they arent suspenders....its a ammunition belt and gun harness.....its not to keep his pants up.....the classic cap suit with with the red and white straps would look terrible in real life...thats why in the movie he wears that costume as a joke....get with it dude.
ManThing

I have never thought the wings looked stupid.
They are both symbolic and iconic. He's a super hero, and decorating his costume with something that has meaning for him makes perfect sense to me. Lots of super heroes dress in flamboyant ways.

It's kind of lame how everyone just loooves Superman's costume with it's dive panties and red gogo boots, but when it comes to Cap, those same people just won't be satisfied until he's stripped down to plain army fatigues.

And I certainly don't think that painted on wings would look dumb either.
