Filming for one of Marvel's highly anticipated movies of 2011,
Captain America: The First Avenger, is well underway overseas in the UK. And while it was offhandedly mentioned before, according to
Liverpool City Council:
In Liverpool, the majority of filming for the Captain America movie, will take place in the docklands area of the city involving a large-scale build of a wartime/World War II submarine for what will be a pivotal and action-packed sequence in the film.
Now I can't help but think that this "Large-scale wartime" submarine would somehow be connected to or an early model of the famous
SHIELD Helicarrier that is
rumored to be included in Marvel's present-day hero-mashup
The Avengers.
The First Avenger already has a few early
SHIELD members including Nick Fury & Dum Dum Dugan (more to be announced), back then called the Howling Commandos. And in the "Sgt. Fury and his Howling Commandos" comics, where they originally appeared, the Helicarrier was there for their convenience. And the first one was built by Stark Industries, who during
this film will be led by Howard Stark (Dominic Cooper).
One thing that may interfere with this theory is the fact that the Helicarrier has always been a aircraft, and a submarine is evidently the opposite of that. But it would make sense that back during "Wartime" there wasn't the technology to lift something as "Large-scale" as the hellicarrier. But with today's technology in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, that "lift" could possibly be in the mind of the billionaire Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.), who'll be a key component in
The Avengers as well.
Of course, I could be looking a little to much into this, but What do You think? Anyhow in the infamous 3D,
Captain America: The First Avenger hits theaters July 22 next year &
The Avengers assembles May 4, 2012.
