Hiroshi Kitagari has recently moved into a directorial position after years of VFX and Make-up application in the industry. We spoke about his newest flick, End of Loyalty. When chatting with him about that we got to learn about his work on projects like Avatar: The Way of Water, The Mandalorian, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Captain Marvel.
We'll obviously be bringing these interesting bits to you, starting with the latter. When talking about Captain Marvel we learned about the behind-the-scenes process of creating the Skrulls and changing their faces from one another.
Also mentioning what it's like to watch movies he's worked on, we talked about a number of topics with Hiroshi. Beginning with Captain Marvel, a genuine comic book movie, here is a tease for our chat with his comments about the movie, so check out the video below if you want the full experience and aren't looking forward to waiting to hear about Darth Vader or Avatar.
Hiroshi Kitagari:There is a base design for the species of Skrulls. And we had a live cast of actors, so there are several people that we did the sculpt on - the actors. Just like we are all human beings and we look different, it's the same with this species. So based on the cast we had, we sculpted them differently. There's always some sort of freedom as long as we stick with the base. Mainly I just do the sculptures when we have the live actors, there's usually a mask made by someone else and I am just sculpting, which is, nowadays pretty easy. When I work on a movie it's different when I watch it but as long as you're a professional you can avoid it.
What do you think of Hiroshi's comments? We've also included the trailer for his directorial debut, End of Loyalty. With so much to touch on, be sure to share your take in the comments section!
