Despite the fact that Marvel Studios has released a trailer for Captain Marvel, much of the movie remains shrouded in secrecy. Given Kevin Feige's track record for keeping secrets, that will remain the case right up until next March but during a recent interview, he confirmed that Carol Danvers' big screen debut is heavily inspired by the work of writer Kelly Sue DeConnick.

"The history of Captain Marvel and is rather confusing," the Marvel Studios President admitted. "But the one we're doing is based on Carol Danvers and in particular the Kelly Sue DeConnick run, which has only been around the last few years."

Given how long DeConnick spent working on the character, it's impossible to say which, if any, storylines the Captain Marvel movie might be based on but we've already seen a number of elements from her run (the costume and Carol's cat, for example) make it into the upcoming release.

What are you most excited to see from Captain Marvel? As always, share your thoughts below.

The mohawk and the mask; it's a good time to be a comic book fan! Once upon a time, it would have been hard to imagine this making it to the big screen but Marvel can make anything work it seems.

This is something you may have missed the first time around but as Marvel looks to emphasise the fact that this movie revolves around a female superhero, it looks like #HERo will be the choice hashtag.

Hooray for slow-motion, badass walking! There's clearly something very suspicious about Carol being part of Starforce and many fans believe that she may have been brainwashed by the Kree Empire.

Brie Larson trained with real Air Force pilots for Captain Marvel and while her time in a cockpit will probably only be explored in flashbacks, it should be interesting to see that period of her life.

Marvel Studios has really mastered using visual effects to de-age actors and Samuel L. Jackson looks like he's stepped straight out of the '90s in this shot. Those sunglasses look pretty damn good on him!

Talking of sunglasses, Agent Coulson is no stranger to removing them in a stylish fashion and Clark Gregg has also been de-aged for the movie. Lee Pace will probably undergo the same treatment.

What a visual. Marvel needed a money shot for the trailer and while most of it was pretty grounded, this makes it clear that not only are we getting a cosmic adventure but the visuals will be off the chain.

Don't believe me about the visuals in Captain Marvel being something else? Well, just take a look at these GIFs! Marvel Studios clearly isn't pulling any punches or holding back on special effects costs.

As cool as that shot of Carol seemingly getting her powers is, seeing the hero in her comic book helmet is even better and you have to hope we'll also see the red, blue, and gold version of that too.

Surprisingly, this is one of the most talked about moments in the Captain Marvel trailer as many non-fans are baffled by the hero brutally attacking an elderly woman. Honestly, I think it's a cool visual!

In the comic books, Carol Danvers is obviously able to fly but many fans believe that she won't know the full extent of her powers when the movie begins, hence why she's making a leap of faith here.

Eagle-eyed fans have noticed that the pager Nick Fury is using here is the exact same one we saw in Avengers: Infinity War minus the space gadgets which will help the former S.H.I.E.L.D. Director reach Carol.

What on Earth (or, well, Hala) is happening here? Either Carol has been captured by the Skrulls or the Kree or brainwashing her, something which would explain why she's lost some of her memories.
