We have a few ideas about how Captain Marvel 2 will play out, and it's likely the sequel will tie into the Secret Invasion TV series coming to Disney+. Even that is just speculation, though, and it's a predictably mysterious project. Unfortunately, star Brie Larson couldn't share any new details during a recent YouTube Q&A, but did elaborate on what she hopes to bring to the role this time.
Larson shot her Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame scenes before Captain Marvel, so this follow-up marks the Oscar-winner's first real chance to explore what makes Carol Danvers tick.
"I’ve changed so much, I’ve grown so much, and so I’m really excited to see what I can bring to Carol and the Captain Marvel sequel with who I am now," Larson says of the upcoming sequel. "To see how all of you have embraced Carol, and taken her on, and used her as a symbol for whatever it is. If there’s difficulties that are going on in your life, moments of strength that you need that you can pull from this character and find something, whether it’s a line from the film or from the comics."
"That has been absolutely remarkable and incredible, and I’m excited to keep expanding on that. In terms of the sequel, one of the things I get asked a lot - a lot, a lot, a lot, a lot - is if there’s anything I can tell you about the sequel. And the thing I can tell you is that: I can’t tell you anything!"
Now that Captain Marvel is established as one of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's most powerful heroes, it will certainly be interesting seeing where things go from here for her (it's not going to be easy for Marvel Studios to find a villain she won't just immediately decimate, for example).
