Marvel Studios introduced Captain America: New World Order's cast at D23, and there were some big surprises, including The Leader's return and a new Falcon! It was all quiet on the Fantastic Four front.

Was D23 a disappointment? That would be a bit harsh, but the rumours doing the rounds prior to the event may have set expectations a little too high. There was no Deadpool 3 title reveal, much of the footage was exclusive to the show, and most disappointingly, we didn't get a Fantastic Four cast announcement.

Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige confirmed that WandaVision director Matt Shakman will direct the reboot, but was quick to tell fans in attendance that he had nothing else to share. Why? Well, there's still another D23 between now and the movie's release, so it's early days for the movie (we're guessing Shakman will want some input on casting).

On the plus side, we did get some exciting updates for Captain America: New World Order

The Incredible Hulk star Tim Blake Nelson has officially joined the movie's cast, reprising his role as The Leader. We have to believe this will somehow tie into She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, especially when a mysterious foe is after Jennifer Walters' blood.

It was also confirmed that Shira Haas is playing Israeli superheroine Sabra, while Carl Lumbly will reprise his The Falcon and The Winter Soldier role as Isaiah Bradley. Danny Ramirez is also coming back from that Disney+ series, and it was mentioned that the actor, like the character's comic book counterpart, will suit up as The Falcon.

In other casting news, we also learned that Ke Huy Quan will play a TVA agent in Loki season 2, while Vincent D’Onofrio will return as The Kingpin - eyepatch and all - in Echo. That was it in terms of new casting news, though we do now know that Randall Park will reprise the role of Jimmy Woo in Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania

Captain America: New World Order is directed by Julius Onah from a script penned by Dalan Musson and Malcolm Spellman. It arrives in theaters on May 3, 2024.

@KWilly - There are a lot of so-called scoopers on twitter that post absolute bullshit with no source to back their info.

I remember seeing one saying "Deadpool 3 will be known as "Deadpool: Maximum Effort" and will see Zasie Beetz, Josh Brolin and blah blah blah"

People got excited and retweeted/liked the post over 10K times and some were asking "Where is your source?"

Too Bad it won't be against hulk, but oh well, he still have the u-foes and zzaxx to fight, at least the leader won't be threated as a comic relief in this, as for the F4 i Guess is too soon to show the cast, i was hoping for a Deadpool 3 announcement

The fact that they set aside time to announce the F4 director, is like a slap in the face to fans. That is something they could, and should have just announced with a tweet.

Ok, that is an odd choice for a Captain America villain, but I guess they wanted to use him, and they still cant make a Hulk solo.
I wonder which part will Bucky play in this movie, now that he is a Thunderbolt.

Anyway, I see a lot of dissapointed people, well, I preffer ONE trailer of ONE existing thing over 40 logos of non-existent stuff.

@TheHumanSpider2 - I think we are seeing a slow build formation of the Masters of Evil.

The Leader, Zemo, maybe Abomination with them… etc.

The F4 announcement was the biggest fail of the presentation imo. Really enjoyed the Secret Invasion and Werewolf by Night trailers but everyone was expecting an F4 announcement. And it's obvious deals aren't locked in place yet but to bring out Matt Shankman only to say "that's all that will be said about F4 today" is a splat.
