COMICS: CIVIL WAR II Teams And Premise Revealed; A Major Character WILL Die

Marvel are all about headline grabbing gimmicks these days, so it should hardly come as a surprise to learn that they're planning to have a major hero die at the hands of another good guy in the pages of Civil War II. We also have details on the premise and team leaders...

The premise of Mark Millar and Steve McNiven's Civil War is being used for one of Marvel's biggest movies to date this May, but something tells me that Kevin Feige won't be adapting its upcoming sequel for the big screen! The New York Daily News has all the exclusive details, though it's essentially a dozen paragraphs of various Marvel writers talking about killing off a major superhero in the story. That's right, they're not leaving it as a surprise; the whole marketing campaign for this series is the promise of killing a character, one of the most tedious and unexciting tropes in modern day comics. Anyway, here's a synopsis for Minority Report Civil War II which reveals that Iron Man will be pitted against Captain Marvel, while the cover reveals whose side Cap will be on.

A mysterious new Marvel character comes to the attention of the world, one who has the power to calculate the outcome of future events with a high degree of accuracy. This predictive power divides the Marvel heroes on how best to capitalize on this aggregated information, with Captain Marvel leading the charge to profile future crimes and attacks before they occur, and Iron Man adopting the position that the punishment cannot come before the crime.

Marvel will kill off a character in a storyline from the upcoming event series, “Civil War 2.”

From civil war 1, you'd think that Tony would be leading Captain Marvel's team. I'm a lil surprised.

Jennifer Walters, attorney at law, being on the pro-precog side means this is already dumb.

"A Major Character WILL Die"

*sigh*

Another reason to skip this event. The only comics I'll be reading is the 4 title out of the "All-New Marvel" and TPB of older comics.

Ya this looks like a really bad event which I definitely won't be buying. Well not like it matters I haven't bought a single issue of a comic book in years and only buy TPB at conventions on the cheap. Usually 50-75% off their normal price.

Marvel needs to reboot instead of giving a little backstory on origin and putting "All-New," "All-New All-New," and #1 on all their titles. All these changes bring so much fatigue and makes it seem like a huge cluster-[frick]. This is just ridiculous.

It's hard to believe ANYONE takes the dumb shits at Marvel Comics seriously anymore. And equally hard to believe that the reverse-ball cap and t-shirt wearing Quesada keeps his job from week to week.

Ya know, at one time Marvel was known as "The House of Ideas".
In the space of less than a generation how the mighty have fallen.

"A Major Character Will Die."

Well duh. One of these events isn't complete until somebody gets a year or two in the penalty box. It'll probably be Tony.

Also, stupid justification for a civil war. Very half-assed. But that's just my 0.02.

Wait, why is Captain Falcon and Iron Man on the same side? I thought they were on different sides?

Either way with Bendis I have no interest.

Marquez's art will be the shit. Dude [frick]ing killed it in the last 12 issues of Miles Morales Ultimate Spider-Man.

That makes no sense at all since conciliation is easy on this point, and also the teams are so wrong, Spider-man always ready to give a chance even to the badest guys and She-Hulk wanting to arrest peoples based on prediction with "high degree of accuracy" High degree is not 100% won't stand 2 seconds in front of a good lawyer like I don't know.... SHE HULK ?! .......

Here's something I don't understand with Marvel.

So basically all these different worlds into one. Old Man Logan and Miles are in a universe with 616 Spider-Man & Iron Man for example. Yet these heroes all have memories of the world's they were in. It's just confusing with that. Old Man Logan remembers Old Man Logan and now has to work with the X-Men.

To me that's just confusing. Having knowledge of your life on a past Earth when you live in a new Earth.

I just preferred hitting reboot.

Thankfully the only Marvel books I read is Soule's Daredevil & Lemire's Old Man Logan. Not out of hate to Marvel. Just my favorite Marvel heroes are Spidey, Hulk, Daredevil, and X-Men. I have little interest in the direction of X-Men, Spidey, and Hulk. May pick up Tom King's Vision. His Grayson run is one of DC's current best.

Sometime, soon, no one will be interested in what Marvel Comics does or says, thanks to this wretched, current administration.
And yet Marvel STUDIOS goes gangbusters, everyone in anticipation of the next batch of promo photos or film (-like, for instance, upcoming "Dr.Strange").

I'll bet, dollars to donuts, Kevin Feige would love to keep the characters and erase all Marvel COMICS logos and references from his films- the comics division is that embarrassing. He's already kicked the "Marvel Creative Commitee" (Quesada, Bendis, et. al.) to the curb and from the studios.

Marvel Comics, with all of their shallow, headline-grabbing bs, just keeps on digging their own hole...

@KindanNo
And it definitely makes sense to quote something I didn't say at all, because that's obviously how quotes are used. And it's apparent that I'm referring to how I want the comics to return to normal. You're not allowed to be sarcastic if you don't know what the [frick] you're talking about, lol.

@rocketeuropa

You may not like it but you are probably wrong because Marvel comics were some of the highest selling comics of the year outselling DC by far. Out of the top 10 comics DC had 1 and in the top 50 DC had 8. Marvel on the other hand had 7 of the top 10 and 40 of the top 50. I don't buy comics anymore but Marvel is on top of the comic book world right now way above DC in sales.

This mysterious new character they mention...
I hope it's the post-2099 timetraveler they introduced in Marvel Now.1
If you don't recall, a time traveler is busted by SHIELD and under interrogation admits that he knows everything that is about to befall the Marvel universe. He taunts Nick Fury Jr with some prophecies that have since been fulfilled, and then he vanishes from the helicarrier.
Either they intended to use him years later, or they've simply forgotten all about him.
