COMICS: DC Will Follow Marvel And Make The Jump From $2.99 To $3.99

Back in 2010, Marvel Comics began charging $3.99 for certain titles before eventually making it the standard price across the publisher's entire line. Eight years later, DC is about to follow suit.

It seems the entire line of ongoing DC Universe comics will be increased from $2.99 to $3.99, from this point onward. Newsarama reached out to DC Comics, who confirmed the switch.

For those that only follow a single title, a $1 price hike doesn't mean much but for the serious collectors who routinely pick up 5-7 issues every 'pull-day', there's likely going to be some budget adjustments. Digital comics will also be priced at $3.99, as well.

For nearly a decade, DC has resisted the rate increase first began by Marvel back in 2010, with the publisher picking and choosing select titles to receive the premium price.

With $3.99 now the industry-wide standard, how long before the premium price for special anniversary and event issues rises to $4.99?

Then never "hold the line at 2.99" forever. I suppose they can't.

I guess it doesn't really apply to me. I stopped buying when The New 52 ended. I've only picked up the Batman Beyond trades since then and the first two volumes of Detective Comics... although that might end given how that crosses over with other stuff. Whatever, I'm sure people'll be fine.
