Marvel Comics has revealed that a new creative team will be taking over Doctor Strange this November, comprising of writer Donny Cates and artist Gabriel Hernandez Walta. To accompany the new team, Marvel has also unveiled a shift in the book's status quo; Asgardian God of Michief Loki will be "taking over" as Sorcerer Supreme! How this happens and what it means for Stephen Strange have yet to be revealed, though Cates teased the mantle change in a press release.

“There’s a new sheriff in town…and he’s not really the trustworthy type,” he said. “That’s right, kids…Loki has taken the mantle of Sorcerer Supreme from our good Doctor! What does that mean for Stephen? And what lengths will Strange go to see his title and his home returned to him? I’ll say this….you can guess all you like, but there is absolutely no way anyone will see the answers to these questions coming. As a dedicated Marvel fan myself, I can confidently say the events of this arc are some of the most shocking things in Marvel comics to date. I’m so excited to see what everyone thinks!”

What do you think of this development? Let us know in the comments! Doctor Strange #27 is scheduled for release in November.

I find all these 'shock revelations' and 'plot twists' which end in the status quo being returned to normal, kinda boring. Even the 'shock factor' that they keep putting in, regardless of outcome gets boring, I haven't picked up a Mark Millar comic for ages because of it.

@Fishandchips - but isn't it also kinda boring if the hero you already know, fights the villains you already know, for eternity?

I feel like comics is a damned-if-you-do, damned-if-you-don't industry.

@ALostCause - you're not wrong, and hey, I couldn't write a comic, so who am I to judge? I just think there is so much more you can do than trying to shock the reader all the time.

@NoAssemblyReqd - hell, the way Marvel is doing things these days, Aunt May for every rol, and she might as well take upon every character in violent and shocking fashion...and that would be okay!

They turned Doc Ock into Spidey, Doctor Doom into Iron Man, and Loki into Doctor Strange. I'm guessing Red Skull as Captain America is next.

@Invictor - I think you just gave away the ending of Secret Empire. Hydra Cap is probably the Red Skull from an alternate timeline who is also a clone of Steve Rogers while simultaneously being his father or something...

@Invictor - Superior Spidey was wicked good and they are still going at it with Doc Ock a cross clone of Peter and himself....working for HYDRA!!!!!! Good stuff!

So many twists and reveals lately it's hard to keep up haha, this is pretty uninteresting because why would Loki need to be the sorcerer supreme? I guess I'd have to read and see but just seems kind of convoluted
