COMICS SPOILERS: Blackest Night #7

MAJOR SPOILER!!!! IF YOU HAVE NOT READ BLACKEST NIGHT #7, AND WANT TO BE SURPRISED, AVOID THIS ARTICLE LIKE THE BUBONIC PLAGUE: The low down on the shocking events of Blackest Night #7. The arrival of a NEW power ring color, and the shocking discovery of WHO will wield it!

It has been speculated by many fans that Blackest Night would come to an end with the arrival of a white power ring. In all honesty, it is not very shocking to see that a white power ring, with the power of LIFE, has been revealed. Geoff Johns' run has centered around the multiple colors of power rings that are out there, and as everyone knows, the big bad weilds the black power ring, a ring capable of controlling the dead.

What IS surprising is WHO is weilding this ring. Many have speculated that IF a white power ring showed up, that either Hal Jordan, or Kyle "The Ion" Rayner would be the ones to wield it. Think again...

THAT'S RIGHT!! The arch nemesis of all Green Lanterns, Sinestro himself, IS the WHITE LANTERN!!!! But what will he do with this new found power?? Is he now the ultimate force for good, or has he just been handed all the power he's ever wanted to carry out his evil deeds?? One thing is for sure, Sinestro will be the saving grace of the ENTIRE universe!!!

Too bad we'll have to wait for Blackest Night #8 to see what he will do with this power!

Geoff Johns has done amazing work with his Green Lantern run. So much so that he's been given a huge promotion in the ranks of DC!! Making Sinestro the White Lantern is just ONE example of what makes him such a tremendous writer!

Bravo Geoff Johns, you caught EVERYONE by surprise with this one!

my only problem so far has been that Earth is where all life started. that just doesn't make sense, especially since Earth is a relatively young planet when compared other planets and galaxies...but i'm sure Johns will have some kind of explanation!

Would it be a stretch to say that Geoff Johns is the greatest person in the history of the universe?

"white power" ring really? Choose you words wisely, it's a White Lantern Ring. "White Power" is a phrase that we try not to use maybe even tip-toe to avoid.

On the other hand good issue and I doubt Sinestro will have the ring very long.

dude, seriously?? are you really going there?? quit trying to keep racism alive. they're called power rings. the color of this one is white. don't be like that. its a ring and has nothing to do with white supremacy as a race. jesus...its sad someone even brings that up. I wrote the article, and i'll call it whatever i want. if someone is offended by it, then its on them, because nothing about this shit is racist.

I think allowing Sinestro to weild this ring is bullshit. If anything, Saint Walker should be the one. I refuse to believe that Sinestro is the 'hero' of this event.

@ brother

this is sinestro we're talking about here, he might save the universe from Blackest Night, but we still don't know HOW he'll do it, and WHAT he'll do with the power afterwards. and who knows, he may not even stay the white lantern for long...

I don't like Sinestro with it, largely because of where he stands among the Yellow Lantern corp(namely, their leader). I don't think he'll keep it for long either, but with the announcement of Brightest day, and Hel being the best choice for a ring, I think a twist like this was almost too easy to write. Sinestro is supposed to be the greatest Lantern ever, though, so maybe he does.

i was thinking all those things you mentioned! but did you think of this also? we all know the rings colors represent not only the spectrum of emotions, but also the spectrum of colors. in the color specturm, white is ALL COLORS COMBINED.

it might seem like a white ring with the power of life would be all holy, and pure, like you said. but with all those colors and emotions combined, i would think it could also be very chaotic...if that is the case, then Sinestro doesn't really seem like such a strange person to wield it, y'know??

@ shadow

well, like you said, Sinestro is "supposed" to be the greatest lantern ever. or, at least, was consdered that at one time. we all know that certain people are fully capable of wielding different color power rings. so Sinestro wielding this one doesn't seem too far fetched, especially if my theory about the white ring being the totality of all the other rings is right. (since the color spectrum combined equals the color white in real life) i really wouldn't be surprised if this White ring isn't as NOBLE as everyone thinks.

but i agree, i like Sinestro as the leader of the yellow lanterns.

I couldn't believe that! It blew my mind!

I don't think of Sinestro as truly evil. He is misguided, but has always wanted to bring peace to teh universe, in his image.

This is definitely a WTF moment for me. All the Black Lanterns piling up and up and outnumbering everyone else by billions. I too knew there would be a white lantern, but not Sinestro! That was effing crazy. Definitely excited to see how this wraps up to start Brightest Day!

You are correct. I must calm myself and realize that All Will Be Well! Johns is not an idiot and I've liked pretty much everything of his that I've read.

you know, that might make sense, because its been said that BN was going to help put a stop to the revolving door of death in the DCU. not entirely, but its gotten out of hand. so i know they wanted to use this story to help stem that a little bit.

maybe the white ring is a big reason as to why characters get ressurrected a lot, and after it goes away, it brings back a bunch of characters?? then the revolving door is done? i don't know, just a thought.
