COMICS: Wally West Makes His Return On Gary Frank's Awesome Cover For DC REBIRTH Third Printing

DC Rebirth has been a hit, and it's fair to say that a big part of that has something to do with the return of beloved Scarlet Speedster, Wally West. He takes centre stage on this cover for the third printing...

It took five years, but Wally West finally returned in the pages of DC Rebirth and will next be seen as a lead in Titans. Escaping from the Speed Force (where he was presumably trapped by Watchmen character Dr. Manhattan), Wally had an emotional reunion with Barry Allen, and this new cover for the third printing of the comic by Gary Frank and colourist Alex Sinclair depicts his struggle to return.

So far, it seems like this initiative to make superheroes super again has been a hit for DC Comics, as this week's "Rebirth" issues for Batman, Green Arrow, Green Lanterns, and Superman have all sold out and are going back for second printings. Those are all well worth checking out - Green Arrow in particular is pretty damn great - but be sure to share your thoughts on this cover in the comments section.

Love the cover…. but WHY is Wally back as Kid Flash??? Last time I remember, he was the Flash until Barry was revived. Did he go back to being KID Flash??? WHO thought THAT was a smart idea???

@ChuckV - He isn't Kid Flash. He doesn't have a confirmed alias yet, but black Wally is Kid Flash.

@LordDaredevil - Okay, NOT referring to the current story. In continuity. Wally was the original Kid Flash, but retired that costume/identity to become the Flash. I'm assuming he never returned to that look.

WHY would he appear in that costume now??

@ChuckV - Because several years were taken from continuity due to Dr. Manhattan. Wally acknowledges that he did become Flash.

@DTor91 - I see, thanks for the explanation.

@ChuckV - No. He quit being Kid Flash over two years before taking up the mantle and costume of the silver age Flash!

DC Rebirth was very good. I admit, I haven't seen everything that led up to it, but I've seen and heard enough to get the picture. Hopefully, we'll get some good stuff with Wally and other characters in the stuff to come. I'm looking forward to see just how the characters of Watchmen factor into the DC Universe, especially Dr. Manhattan, whom I hope they don't turn into a total villain, because that would be a waste IMHO.

@RexBlazer1 - I don't think he'll be a villain. With a character like Dr. Manhattan, he does everything, because it's what's meant to happen. He knows everything, as well as what his part is in everything. So he plays his part when he is supposed to play his part, and steps out when he is done.

@AMrSundayGirl58 - Yeah, it's just that everyone's talking about him being the new big bad a lot, and it has me a little concerned.

Did not know DC had Dan Abnett with them again. Loved his Cosmic Marvel stuff so I'll probably pick up that Titans book. Wally West is back, baby! 😎⚡
