The writers state that Supergirl will have different powers that Superman doesn't have, as the yellow sun may effect female Kryptonians differently.

Great first issue, btw!


IGN: Is Supergirl's power set the exact same as Superman, or will she differ in some way?

Green & Johnson: The basics are similar: flight, strength, heat vision, etc. But the power levels are different, and there is a very specific reason why that will be revealed in the course of the story. And who's to say that the yellow sun affects Kryptonian males and females the same way? We will be revealing new abilities that her cousin doesn't have.

I hope she is stronger! I love it when women are stronger than men, and I am a dude. I am a slight feminist lol...She needs movie love! I hope she is in the next superman...

@alucard....she is probably not...everyone knows who both of them are. It is impossible for someone to not know who they are. I think they are equal popularity wise

Ever since Kara's re-introduction in Apocalypse it has been said that she is stronger than Clark...

So nothing new there then...

Different powers though...well so long as she doesnt have all of Clarks powers and some of her own...

She definitely should not be stronger than Superman or more powerful. That cheapens the whole Superman character rather than stealing the Superman mythos and reinventing it for a female. In fact, no Kryptonian should be as powerful as Superman. Superman is the youngest Kryptonian born on his homeworld to reach and grow up on Earth. The other Kryptonians (including Kara) came to Earth and gained full power immediately, like the Daxamites. Kal El's powers grew slowly and continue to grow everyday under a yellow sun. Future versions of him have outgrown kryptonite radiation and achieved godlike levels of powers from constant solar absorption. When he has met future versions of himself, they were always stronger. No other Kryptonian or Daxamite aside from Superman(most alt versions too) and Superboy(on a much slower level) have shown this type of absorption.
