DOOMSDAY CLOCK: All The Biggest And Most Shocking Reveals From The Latest Issue - SPOILERS
Doomsday Clock #7 went on sale today and if you're someone who thinks it's been a little slow up until now, you'll be glad to know that things are finally heating up courtesy of some shocking revelations!
The first six issues of Doomsday Clock have all been very good. Unfortunately, having to wait two months between issues and a rather slow pace has hurt the event to some extent and many fans have argued that it's simply moving too slow, especially as we've reached the halfway point. Well, issue #7 more than makes up for that with plenty of unexpected twists and turns along with some big reveals.
In this issue, we finally see the return ofDr. Manhattan and get a better idea of his place in the DC Universe, not to mention a number of other characters we've been following up until this point. The endgame is also teased and it looks like the end could very well be nigh for this world as we know it. So, to check out all these big reveals, all you guys have to do is click on the "View List" button below.
Dr. Manhattan Killed Alan Scott
Alan Scott was the first Green Lantern (the source of his powers didn't come from Oa like Hal Jordan and the rest of the Green Lantern Corps; instead they were magic based) and he gained his amazing abilities during a train crash. Well, this issue reveals that Dr. Manhattan decided to move the hero's Lantern six inches out of his reach, a decision which resulted in Alan dying in that accident.
That means the Justice Society of America was never formed and this is seemingly the first example of the Watchmen character changing the timeline of the DC Universe for his own means/entertainment.
Bubastis Is Capable Of Tracking Down Dr. Manhattan
It turns out that the ever-resourceful Ozymandias managed to clone Bubastis and by including the energy from the blast the original was in alongside Dr. Manhattan, this new version is capable of tracking Jon down and can even blind the hero from seeing where Babastis II is both space and time.
Why did Dr. Manhattan resurrect The Comedian? Well, he was tasked will killing the creature because Jon clearly realises what a threat to his plans it could be and doesn't wish to be distracted from them.
Does Dr. Manhattan Fear Batman?
In two of the most interesting panels in this issue of Doomsday Clock, Batman tells Dr. Manhattan, "I know who you are." There's been speculation for a while now that he's been hiding in plain sight in the DC Universe so has the Caped Crusader figured out his identity? Jon looks noticeably shaken by this apparent revelation and wastes no time in taking those from his universe on an unexpected journey.
The Truth Comes Out
During the course of this conversation, we learn that Ozymandias was lying and isn't actually dying from cancer; instead, he used that as an excuse to manipulate the new Rorschach who quickly discovers that his parents didn't die in a loving embrace. Instead, they despised each other at the end and his father was practically driven mad by his conversations with the unhinged Walter Kovacs.
Marionette, meanwhile, was only spared by Jon because of who her child would grow up to become, while he also reveals that she's once again pregnant. Could it be that she and Mime are the parents of the three Jokers we've heard so much about? Jon also confirms that he hoped to find a place in the DC Universe but a vision of the future changed his mind and with that comes a pretty huge reveal!
The End Of Everything
The issue wraps up with Ozymandias declaring that he has a plan, while Rorschach ditches his mask and seemingly loses his mind after the earlier revelations. Dr. Manhattan has fled to Mars and reveals that in one month's time, he sees an infuriated Superman rushing toward him about to deliver what may be a killing blow as the world falls apart around them. As that blow lands, everything goes dark and Jon is unable to see any further into the future. This leaves him with a big question, though.
Does Superman kill him or does he destroy everything? For now, that remains unanswered. Uh oh...
