It is, along with Action Comics, the book that launched with the debut of Superman, one of the medium's signature series, and the source of its company's name. With 881 monthly issues published as of August 2011 (the last issue before a new #1), it is the longest continuously published comic book in the United States.

First one was bad. Probably won't continue reading this book. Godd thing there's 37 other Batman books to choose from.

#1 with Joker as a mad villain was crazy. I want to know who the villain is for #2. The Dark Knight #1 was kind of stupid at the end with thw whole "One Face" situation. Hopefully they can do something to make it better.

@MJPETTY7 your dissing of Morrison and your support of Batman: The Dark Knight has me thoroughly disappointed

Just read the first BATMAN. Kinda meh, really short and all kinds of Robins everywhere. Gonna start the DARK KNIGHT one tonight. The cover art is nice. Hope its good.

@neoBaggins The first Batman was back in the 1930s, don't let the DC gimmick/stunt fool you. The biggest difference is Gordon dyed his hair so its less grey

@secretasianboy Morrison really screwed up Batman sir! So, I don't know what you are talking about. Batman hasn't been this good since Morrison started on Batman. Now, I love Morrison's JLA and All-Star Superman, but The "Three Batmen" "RIP" "Return of Bruce Wayne" "Batman & Son" "Final Crisis" etc. ALL CRAP!!! As for Batman: The Dark Knight....much better than all of that. One-Face is iffy, but I can handle it. A much better story than giving Batman a son...

Great stuff, Detective comics is the best title from the new 52.

I dident like Batman dark knight at all, the art was pretty good but the story dident go anywhere and nothin really happened in the issue.

Read both: BATMN/DARK KNIGHT. Really short and like Fastestmanalive said; it didnt go anywhere. The Two-Face HULK at the end calling himself One-face will definitely end my interest in these titles. I'm scared to try another one. I wanted to get back into reading but it's too expensive if the stories are this short and not too exciting.
